I bought my dress from David's Bridal a while back and their customer service to me left more to desired, esp when they wouldn't allow my friend to try on dresses, but she had an appointment, but we were just 5-10 minutes late b/c they failed to tell us they moved stores! I could go on.
A lot of LIW brides warned me about their experiences with alterations and if I'm going to shell out half the cost of the dress, I want it done right. A lot of girls recommended Phyllis from Gownfind to me, so I contacted her today to get her rates and information and just waiting to hear back from her.

Re: need some help girls-Davids Bridal Question
I liked them. I got my dress in 3 weeks, it's condition was good and is beautiful. Of course, it's always a zoo in there, but, they are speedy, I had a decent experience with them.
I haven't heard great things about the alterations though, I believe they can be just as expsensive as the dress! I'm doing alterations at another seamstress.

Re: need some help girls-Davids Bridal Question
I have bought almost everything at Davids Bridal. I haven't had ant problems. I got my dress (below), my BM dresses and my mothers dress. Im getting she shoes and alterations there also. I think with all things it really just depends on the customer service...every store will be a little different...just depends on the girls working.
I got the same dress as above in white. I just had a bad experience when I went to pick up my dress. The dress I received was dirty and some of the seems were coming undone. When you order your dress tell them to not unpack the dress. New dresses from the warehouse come inside out vaccum seeled in a box, which is how I will get my reordered dress. After my experience I will not be getting alterations done at this store and I will also no longer be purchasing my bm dresses there.

Re: need some help girls-Davids Bridal Question
I bought the first dress I used 11 years ago the Carle Place Store for our wedding and there was no problem so I used them again in Clearwater Florida, I have heard alot of things about the Tampa and Clearwater ones..
If you don't get the right consultant your screwed.. Ours has lay away I don't knwo if anyones elses has it, My sil had to fly in and get her dress and my nieces dress.
My dress right now was a 9-10 pin bussle cost my mom 65.00 they are not going to steam it but ship the dress to Ny in June then have the store up there steam it for me....
They are very good and good to work with but then it is actually who you get to take care of you

Re: need some help girls-Davids Bridal Question
I think it all depends on where you go. I went to the store in Westchester and was sickened. My consultant was asked if a particular dress came in Peridot, her response 'I don't know. Go home and go on the internet and let me know tomorrow'. That was just the beginning. They ordered my dress and never called me, when I went in to find out what was going on, they told me that I already picked it up and signed for the dress. I could go on and on. I should have gone with my gut instinct. Good Luck!

Re: need some help girls-Davids Bridal Question
I got my dress there. Recently I went for my first fitting and it was great! The woman doing the alterations was really sweet and she made me feel very comfortable and pretty. It only cost me $75 and When I go for the final fitting they will clean and steam the veil and dress. The only negative about David's Bridal (yonkers) in my opinion is that it can be busy in there and loud! But the staff I have encountered have been helpful and professional.

Re: need some help girls-Davids Bridal Question
I've been to four David's Bridal stores (my bridesmaids are all over this country!) and so far everyone has been helpful, nice and courteous. No problems at all.

Re: need some help girls-Davids Bridal Question
I ordered my dress from David's and I heard enough bad complaints and own personal bad customer service there that I decided not to chance it.
I've taken my dress to Phyllis and she's been wonderful!!!!

You can read my review. I don't really recommend them for anything...and I strongly suggest 'off the rack' only if you can swing it.
i had my girls order there dresses there, they came in fast nothing wrong at all. I just ordered a dress there this weekend b/c i am in my Future sister in law's wedding in 2007. nothing wrong so far.

Re: need some help girls-Davids Bridal Question
I bought my dress there and am having it altered somewhere else...mainly because they are a little hectic and slightly unorganized and it makes my nervous...but I am highstrung so it might not bother someone else..
