Need some help planning our trip...

Need some help planning our trip...

We are in the process of planning our visit to Florida and I have started making lists of things I will need for Paul. Two things at the top of my list are - life jacket and swimmies (the arm floaty things).

Does anyone know where I can buy these? Of course, we have no plans for Paul to go 'swimming' BUT we will likely spend some time at the beach/pool and I would feel so much better being prepared.

Thanks!

I would go to Island Recreational. I konw they have a store in Masspequa. I put Justin in a one piece floatation with a built in life preservers in the front, back and around the neck. He has NEVER gone under in this. let me see if I can find a pic for you

Heather - thanks - I know exactly where that store is...I will have to check it out.

Also - does anyone know where I can find that safety harness that allows the child to walk around on his own, but they are still 'attached' to you? I'm not really into the idea of putting Paul on a 'leash' but while we're sight-seeing in the Keys, I can't imagine him being content to sit in the stroller the ENTIRE time

Claud...there may be an Island Recreational in East Northport on Larkfield Road (at least there used to be years ago)

a little closer to you:)

I just checked their website and they also have a store in Smithtown

This isn't the exact one I have for him, but it is similar in style.

Claud - Karen (kptoys) bought one of those harnesses for her Fla trip, I'm not sure how it worked out but I'm sure she can tell you where to get it. Did you check the safety section of BRU?

When are you going?

Claud, we are going to FL in 2 weeks so we also wanted to get the swimmy stuff. We went to Buy Buy Baby and they had a huge selection of water gear for all young ages. I would check there and they have the harnesses too I think.

Bumping for Karen....and....can anyone else think of anything I might need on a 12 day trip with a toddler? I mean, besides a value-pack of Motrin?

Re: Need some help planning our trip...

Since I just did this..

Make sure you have plenty of toys, snacks, drinks for him

Car seat? UMBRELLA STROLLER!

Baby sling. when they dont want to be in the stroller or be leashed you are going to have to carry them to make sure they dont go running off. The sling makes things SOOOOOOOOOO much nicer.

I was getting envious looks from other parents in Disney when their arms were getting tired and mine were nice and free.

Ill think of more.

Claud - I saw that Target has swim stuff out already - the arm swimmies and stuff. I put Amanda in a vest last summer and she loved to swim on her own with it - it is like those swimsuits that have the floaties in them but it doesn't connect at the crotch area.

and BRU has the walking harness too!!

I would also suggest buying diapers, wipes and most snacks down there. Bring a supply for the plane and then buy down there so you aren't lugging all those extras that take up space in the suitcase.

crayons, coloring books, snall toys

Re: Need some help planning our trip...

Thanks you guys! I just bought an umbrella stoller the other day at Sears, so that's done!

I've got a mountain of raisins to tote along, and I'll get some animal crackers too. I'll have to get some small bottles of juice as well and some water. We've got the crayons and plenty of toys.

We are bringing the carseat on the plane.

I'm going to send my MIL a shopping list for things like diapers, wipes, desitin and Wet Ones. She'll be only too thrilled to stock up...she's like a kid on Christmas since we told her we decided to book the trip!
