Over the past 4 or 5 days I have called 4 photographer, and know one has called me back. The one that did call me back told me it will be 3 weeks till I can meet with them. Is that how long it should take??? Anyone have any help fopr me. Thanks.

kind of strange, but not entirely off... perhaps they had jobs this past weekend? do you have others on your list that you want to check out? i started meeting photographers in April for our December wedding. You have some time yet, I think before you should worry. no worries!

yeah well i went to look for my vendores early this year and they said this is her busiest time..so dont worry theyll get back to you

it sounds normal, especially since your wedding is so far away. before i booked with the photographer i am using, i called her and waited about 3 weeks until our meeting. these photogs are sooo busy!

that's not too surprising...as others have said this is a busy season for them. Don't forget that in addition to weddings, photographers also shoot christenings, sweet 15/16, bar/bat mitzvahs, anniversaries, etc.
can you try to meet them sometime during the day or early evening? they'll probably be less busy then than during the weekend.

hmm that is weird!! When I was searching I contacted a bajillion of them by email just to get prices and most got back to me quickly- but there were some that didn't. I say contact some more and meet with the ones that get back to you. You will still have plenty of options and you want to work with someone who is easy to get in touch with!

Definitely try going to their websites and emailing them or click the 'contact here' button. I did that with ALOT of vendors and they all responded fast.

I think that is normal, my planner set up all my appointments but I was completely free 24/7 for them. If you have a certain time frames that you can meet them it can be 4 weeks or maybe even more depending on their schedule.

When I made the calls, then all got back to me that same day. I was very impressed. I had called Duet, Velvet, and Thomas Paul.

i think its normal when your wedding is so far awya - although the person we booked with responded to me right away - and we have had him booked over a year and a half...

The photographer i am using works from an office at his office. He responds usually within the same day of my call . He has been great. He even helped me with something that wasn't in the realm of what he does, for free, and he doesn't even know me. Fm if you want info. He is in Blue Point. Came recommended from another bride.

it took a month to meet with my photographer, he was on vacation. They might also have lots of weddings so it sounds about right.

I dont agree with everyone here...thats not right. As a business, I would think they would call you right back. I never had to wait that long for an appointment with any vendor. And I would think they would hold appointments during the week when there were no weddings.
Thats my opinion. I would look elsewhere. The longest it took someone to get back to me was the next day, esp with photo...and i booked all my vendors a year and a half in advance.

Yes of course the meetings would be during the week, but weddings arent the only thing some photographers do. They also do portraits, enagagement shoots (during the week) etc. So yes not getting back to you in a day or maybe 2 is bad but 3 weeks for an appt is not out of the ordinary
