Need some help...Timber Point or Three Village Inn??
Hi everyone! I'm new on this site, my name is Joanna, but it seems like everyone posts really helpful advice! I am engaged as of Jan 7th, and my fiance have narrowed it down to Timber Point and Three Village Inn. We need to decide by next weekend! We love them both but for very different reasons...if anyone else was deciding between the two, can you tell me which you chose and why?
We love the cottages at 3VI (we have tons of out of town guests coming, so it would make it more fun for them). Timber Point would be more convienent for our guests on Long Island though. I love that Timber Point is on the south shore with views of the bay, and a great outdoor area, but I love 3VI's rustic feel, so beautiful!
Please help, any advice would be much appreciated :) Thanks!

I am biased, as I am getting married at TVI this April! They are both beautiful though, and they both have great food. We live on the south shore, but went with TVI because we liked the set up of the reception room better, that was more important to us than location. Good luck! FM me with anymore questions

I didnt get married at either, but looked at both
and as we were narrowing it down, we crossed timber point off our list for two reasons. One, we did not like the set up of the dancefloor, we felt like people might not be able to see all the events going on and we just really liked the set up where the dance floor is smack in the middle of everything, Two, we felt it was a little old
I loved Three Village Inn- the room is gorgeous and we went to a showcase and the food was amazing! I love that you can have your party spill over to the pub they have there and the rooms upstairs...i think it is a really great place for a wedding!

I'm not getting married at either place, but have been to both and I think TVI is better. We went to a wedding there last year and live on the South Shore so we booked a room and it was great and reasonably priced! Good luck with your decision

We looked at Three Village and the outside of Timber Ridge. Being that your wedding is August 2012, maybe look at a few more places?
I'd go with Timber Point for a summer wedding. Three Village maybe for a fall wedding.

Well I did go back and forth with these two for a little while. I did like the quaint feel of TVI, I didn't like that there were other events going on at TVI while I would be having my wedding. When we went to visit, there was a bridal shower and a christening and they were setting up a wedding. The french restaurant is open and the walkways were so low in some of the places my 6'3* fiance had to bend down to get from room to room.
With that said, I did like the idea of having the wedding and hotel at the same place. It also eliminates the need for a limo. The pub and breakfast were nice options, the hard wood floors were nice, and the cottages were beautiful.
Timberpoint does have a weird dance floor setup, but personally I think you can never see what is going on on the dancefloor EVER bc ppl are always surrounding the floor and blocking whats going on. I liked that timberoint had one wedding at a time and wasn't as cramped.
The curtain in the ballroom of 3VI drove me nuts as well and there was no outside area to have a ceremony (which was huge for us) They are both beautiful tho. Either one you pick will be great! 3VI is also a little more expensive, but still relatively cheap!
HTH!

I only looked at TVI but we decided against it because we really wanted to (weather permitting) have the ceremony outside. The outside ceremony area there is right in the parking lot facing the road, though, so it didn't really come off as special or romantic. If you aren't having the ceremony there then that was really the only thing we weren't crazy about!

We went with Timber Point because of how nice and easy to work with everyone there was! The dancefloor worried me a little bit, but being that we aren't planning on doing things like the cake cutting etc on it, I think we will be alright. Plus this gives the people who don't really want to be dancing (I am hoping to be able to have some other entertainment going on) don't feel like they are shoved out of the way. Timber Point is also VERY reasonable with price... did I mention they work with you? The food is delicious too!

Both are great and they both have great food If you book a night wedding at TVI, there won't be any other functions going on in the cocktail room/bar area. Just the restaurant and bar on the other side of the building will have people....

I only looked at TP. Loved the location and outdoor space but wasn't thrilled about the dance floor or the low ceilings. I went to a wedding there this summer and I couldn't see anything on the dance floor. The bar in the room is also really tiny, you def need the bar outside to be running at all times.
