Need Some Info!

Hi Ladies!

I'm very recently engaged and trying to plan a wedding on LI (where I'm from) from California (where I currently live). I suspect this process will not be too easy! I'll be back for a visit at the end of August, but I really want to get some information before then so that I don't waste my time visiting catering halls that aren't feasible for us, and I'm having a tough time getting specific information from vendors over the phone. I also tried the vendor board here and didn't have any luck.

If any of you have quotes for catering halls in Nassau County for Saturday nights in the Fall of 2014 (preferably October) I would be eternally grateful! Some places we're looking at are Chateau Briand, Jericho Terrace, Inn at NHP, Floral Terrace, and Sand Castle, but I'm open to different suggestions as long as they have great food and can accommodate at least 250 people.

Thanks in advance!

The Milleridge Cottage! Amazing food, one wedding at a time, and fits up to 400 people in the ballroom. The atrium where the cocktail hour is has gorgeous floor to ceiling windows too. We checked out the Inn and NHP and were quotes $210 pp for a Saturday night, so that was a definite NO for us. It was about half that much for the Milleridge Cottage.

Not sure about prices for the other places you listed. I didn't consider jericho terrace because i personally wasn't a fan of the food. Chateau Briand has very good food, but I went to some sweet 16s there and they come up from the floor in a puff of smoke and I can't seem to get that terrible thought out of my head lol. Floral Terrace is beautiful on the inside and their food is also wonderful, and I have heard mixed reviews on food for Sand Castle, but I also went to alot of sweet 16s there. Any places that hosted sweet 16s of girls I knew were off of my list!

Definitely check out the Milleridge Cottage, Floral Terrace, and Chateau Briand though! And the Inn and NHP is absolutely gorgeous, just very pricey

Oh and by the way, of the places you listed, only the NHP Inn does one wedding at a time I believe. Some places can host up to 3 weddings at the same time, so I'm not sure if that would be a concern with some of the places you listed!

Thanks so much, this is really helpful! I'm going to go right ahead and cross the Inn at NHP off my list also. $210 a person is definitely way over budget!

I've seen the puff of smoke at Chateau Briand also, but for a wedding-I figure I can just skip that part if it's the only unfavorable aspect! I'll definitely do some research on the Milleridge Cottage and add them to my list!

Floral Terrace and the Sand Castle have the same owners and they only do one wedding at a time. Sand Castle was completely renovated 3 years ago. Milleridge Cottage is nice but we felt the cocktail hour was on the small side. The lady we met with said it fit up to 100 guests (we are having 175-200). When we asked where the other 100 guests were supposed to sit she told us they can just walk around. FH and I were a little turned off by that remark. My favorite of all of the ones you listed is the Inn at New Hyde Park but the price is very high.

Just a note on the Inn at New Hyde Park, they gave us a tour of the place during the beginning of a wedding, so we had to walk through the guest who were mingling and having drinks in the lobby. Also at the end of our tour, we went into the BmMs office, which is in the bridal suite. The bride was so upset when she saw us and I don't blame her. Chateau Briand is amazing! That was out top choice before we actually visited them and that only changed because they don't have much outside aread. they quoted us $97 for a friday night in August. I think it was Sharon I spoke to and she quickly emailed me the prices for the time of year I wanted. Also check out Fox Hollow, the Somerley room. It's all new and its amazing! they quoted us $106 for a friday in the summer. I think with them it's so worth it and we would have picked them if they had more days available. Also Jericho terrace is pretty and very reasonably price. They also do a lot of food and can customize it. I'm puerto rican and they even had puerto rican dishes I could add to cocktail hour. They quoted us $89

Thanks, ladies! You've all been really helpful and I'm getting a better idea of where I need to be looking.

I've also expanded our search to Westbury Manor, Fox Hollow, and Swan Club, so if anyone has any information on those bring it on!

Yes I agree the fox hollow is very pretty and I've been to a few weddings and other events there and the food was very good.. From what I hear, their prices are very good as well (winter nights go as low as $80p/p)... the swan club is another reasonably priced place.. although I never saw it, it was on my list to look at as well until I went to the Sand Castle and fell in love. Everyone is correct, the Sand Castle and Floral Terrace do have the same owners and do 1 wedding at a time. Once you walk in them you will see the difference. They are pricier thought, but there are ways to drop the prices. But their food is AMAZING and they offer sooooo much. Another nice place was the Venetian Yacht Club and they were pretty reasonably priced as well within the $80 mark. They are on the water which was nice, but I don't think they do one wedding at a time.

The swan club is very nice, but again, they do like 3 events at once. They will definitely quote you the lowest though (I was quoted like $65), and the outside grounds are BEAUTIFUL, but I just didn't want to be running into other wedding guests at my wedding lol

Jericho Terrace, fox hollow, giorgios, and woodbury country club came down to our tops when were made our decision. We based it off food and can we afford it. Jericho Terrace won hands down and they didn't make the food special for us like woodbury, giorgios did for a special tasting. Fox hollow's food did't impress me it was okay. Jericho Terrace we were sitting in a room not being used and were served food that was actually being served at a wedding going on right then. The food was amazing and very unique two of the appetizers were like nothing we even saw as options at the other places and were amazing. My fh said it was the best steak he ever had. The price was also the best so it was a no brainer for us.
