Need some planning advice

Need some planning advice

My wedding is on Labor Day September 7th, 2009. I sent out 95% of my save the dates already (FH still has a few left ) When should I send out my invitations. I was thinking to mail them out the end of May so that the guests can get them by June and RSVP by August 1st. I also wanted to know when did everyone order their favors? If I order them after I get all the RSVP I may not get them in time. I am so confused

Invitations can go out anytime between 6-8 weeks before the wedding and the rsvp is usually one month to the day before the actual wedding. I think the end of May early June is a lil too early IMO even for a holiday weekend. Maybe more towards the end of June I would send them personally.

And favors you order before you get your RSVP's you usually order them around 2 months before the wedding. And you just have to estimate when ordering so your going to possibly get stuck with some extras. Its better to have too many then not enough so order rounding up not down.

I would caution against sending the invites out too early, because people may see the invite and date, feel they have such a long time to respond, put it off, and then totally forget about it. Hopefully they won't be planning anything for that weekend, especially since you sent the STD out.

Do you have a lot of oot guests? I have a very large amount of OOT guests, so i'm sending them out very early too. My brother who is in the nyfd reminded me that a lot of city/government jobs require you to submit PTO at least 30 days in advance, so I want to give people enough time to plan eventhough they have their STD.
Since it's a big holiday weekend for travel, I dont see anything wrong with sending it a bit earlier. JMO

Good luck!

ITA with this. We're having our wedding in CT so EVERYONE is an OOTer, and even though we're going to be sending STDs, I think we're going to send the invitations early anyway, just to remind people.

Hi Date Twin!

We're sending our invites out on July 1, and the RSVP date is Aug 7. I think 8 weeks prior is more than enough time, especially if you've sent out STDs.

Sounds a little early- especially since you are doing save the dates. That is the point of the STD! IF you send invites too early people forget about them.
I ordered my favors a LONG time ago- assuming that close to all of my guests would show. To me it was worth it to have them on time and maybe be left with some extra.

I got married on September 7 last year. We mailed ours at the end of June and had the RSVP for the end of July. It seemed like a good amount of time to me. Regardless, some people just won't RSVP so you'll have to hunt them down!

Good luck!

Thanks guys. I think i'm going to send them out in mid June. I also don't want to send them out too late because I have people from oot and also I am booking transportation on a first come first serve basis and I need to know the number of people who will need transport before I hire the bus.
