...so I let my dad pick the song he and I will dance to, he picked the song by John Mayer-Daughters. I was like 'great'.....now someone told me that song has some dark meaning.......what do you ladies think of the song??? TIA!

This is what I found on a 'song facts' website: 'This is a song with a dual meaning. The first one is explicit - 'Fathers be good to your daughters, daughters will love like you do.' In this particular instance, he's talking about a girl who was abandoned by her father as a child and who has trouble with relationships as an adult. The second message in this song isn't quite so explicit - he explains this in concerts. The song isn't simply about fathers and daughters. It's about history, and how what happens to someone in their past affects who they are now.'
I don't think it has to be taken negatively, it could be taken from the perspective of a father who was really GOOD to his daughter and she turned out to be a good person.

I've seen many people using this song!
However, if you want a diff idea to give you father that's uplifting and sentimental, I'm using 'You Raise Me Up' by Josh Groban.
