Need suggestions - cocktail hour table 'centerpieces'

So my florist and I agreed that we wouldn't do anything for cocktail hour tables, since, well it's only an hour. So thought, oh I'll do something like a floating candle. Com to find out there are 16 tables for the cocktail hour. Ouch, a bit more than I expected.

I am sure, I will eventually run down to the Swan Club to take a peak at the size of these tables but what to put on them that would keep it as a DIY and something I can put my SIL in charge of? Any ideas would be appreciated. Part of my concern was that I wanted to take advantage of all of these post-holidays sales prices and take care of it pronto.

Don't bother.
People won't notice it - all they will be concerned about is the food and drink at the CH. Reception is a different story.

Find out if your RH puts votives on the tables, or if they can do it for you.

Honestly don't bother really no one really looks. I was lucky and had left over centerpieces of clovers from the day before's weddings and NO ONE even noticed them until I pointed it out.

We didn't have centerpieces for our cocktail hour. Instead we had some decorations around the different stations and the guestbook/placecard table.

Wow, that looked great! Loved the kissing balls on the branches. Thanks for the visuals, always appreciated.

i agree. i'd pass on the cocktail centerpieces for the same reasons that everyone said. Also, normally cocktail hour tables aren't the biggest and adding a centerpiece will just be one more thing taking up room.

Also agreed... if your RH doesn't put some sort of candle or something on the tables (they might) then I wouldn't go crazy. Like you said, it's only an hour! No one will miss it.

MY RH supplies candles for the tables but I am making votives to go with my CP's so I am going to make extras to use on the CH tables as well so it all matches.

We are just doing a floating candle thing with some scattered petals around it -- nothing major, and the florist is doing it for virtually nothing, I think because the florist himself didn't like the thought of leaving the tables bare

just do candles, the tables might be small so your guests might need all the space

if you can get those cheap sale prices then I would do it, if not, use your money for something that will get more noticed

I agree that CPs on coctail tables are not necessary as they are usually on the smaller side... I would do scattered petals!

Ask your RH to put votives on the table. That is ALL you need if you put anything at all!

How about this candle holder from IKEA for $3.99 and add some rose petals on the table?
