So my BM arranged for all of us to go to Tony & Tina's Wedding for my B-Party. We thought it would be ideal for everyone especially my pregnant sis. However we are thinking of going somewhere afterwards for a few drinks with a dance floor a bit laid back but nice. Any suggestions for any places in the city?I have been out of the loop for a few years. Also my sis may or may not come so I am open to hear any suggestions!
TIA

If you're looking for a lounge type place, I'd say the W hotel.
If you want a bar with a dance floor, I'd say The Saloon over on 83rd and York. I'm more into bars rather than clubs, but I feel this place is a good combo for someone who wants the bar atmosphere but may want to dance to music played by a DJ on a dance floor.
I went to Porky's for a BP, and it was a lot of fun, but it was soooo packed in there. Might not be the best place for your pregnant sis.
Another place I've heard good things about, but I've never been to, is Naked Lunch.
thanks we were actually considering the saloon i use to go when it was called madisons and then went back when they changed the name to saloon we loved it there has the atmosphere changed?

did you guys really like the W hotel? seems like everyone likes it but i didnt like it at all.
doesn't like every W have a lounge? I'm not sure which W everyone means. there is one near Union Bar in Union Sq. and one on Lex in the 30s.
I agree, though, I was never crazy about them.

i went to the one at lex. First it was a bit too quiet and relaxed. Everybody kinda just sat down on the couch talking and music is pretty low. The drinks were $15 each thats the thing with drinks at the W you are going to spend alot. Actually mine was $15 for bacardi and coke, if you get martini's or anything like that its about $20. We left soon after bc i was going to fall asleep. We went downstairs to the club and didnt care for it either.

I went to Saloon late night (on a weekend) I think about 1 1/2 years ago... that was the last time. Fun 'dance & 80's music' but a young crowd & lots of skeeeevy guys.... Similar to a Mad River crowd- lol...
Also, if you are looking for more upscale- Butter has a really good DJ downstairs I remember... We were there for dinner & stayed, but I remember music was good & crowd was classy but not tooo uptight.
