Need support for my new goal! (long-ish)

Need support for my new goal! (long-ish)

SO last August after my physical and doing some blood tests we determined that I had gained about 30 lbs due to my thryoid. I weighed SO much, like it was ridiculous seeing that number. I went on WW and on thyroid meds and between Aug-Jan I lost 22 lbs! But since about January I have been reaaaaally sporadic with it. I have fluctuated 2-3 lbs but have been pretty good at maintaining my weight loss, but I want to lose another 10-15 lbs before the wedding, and ideally before b-pics which are August 1st. I told myself that as of May 1st (Saturday), which is the day after my last day of field placement for my MSW, I would get back in gear.

Why am I telling you this? I know I CAN do it, and I know I want to do it, but I have terrible willpower unless something is an emergency. I feel good about my loss until now and I'm out of the woods health-wise which means there is no immediate need for me to do this, so basically I need support. I need to be kept in line and I need people kicking my butt if I get out of line.

I know there have been occasional WW or weight-loss support threads, but I guess I wanted to gauge interest if I were to post daily a support group for those of us who can't do it alone? Would people be interested in joining me and helping each other stay on track? Literally I need people (ahem, Becki) who are willing to yell at me if I'm bad.

Thoughts? Opinions? Anyone want to offer to be my weight loss coach ?

Thanks for reading this far!! Now reply!

I am going grocery shopping tonight and not buying any junk. i think saturday i'll start with an egg-white omelette. and since its going to be nice out i'm gonna drag jon-boy to the park by us where we did our e-pics, its huge and its almost a mile away so if we walk there, walk around and walk back i think i'll feel good!

or is just walking around not enough? i should do more. i wish i had a bike!!!!!!!

its definitely more what and how much you eat than it is how much you exercise.

take a big bottle of water with you and have it drank before you come home!

then i'll need to lug a toilet around too

but you're right. when i had my major loss in the fall/winter i was drinking water and peeing constantly. and it totally helps. ok. water bottles are on my grocery list.

saturday meals:
egg-white omelette
WW meal for lunch
chicken breast and veggies for dinner

meal planning is good. and jilli in her post mentioned www.thedailyplate.com so i took a look and its great! almost identical to the WW online calorie tracker and FREE!

start out by walking, increase it to jogging, and eventually get to running. i lost 6lbs since i started training for my 10k

Once I started losing weight..it felt so good, I just kept going. The scale and mirror are the BIGGEST motivators.

I also eat small, frequent meals. I have 2 lunches on most days.

I always have shredded wheat for breakfast. It keeps me full most of the morning. For my mid-morning snack, I usually have 100 calorie coffee cakes or a fiber 1 bar.
I always have carrots with my lunch and salad with FF dressing. If I eat that first, it helps fill me up.
Sometimes I dip my carrots in hummus.
I buy lots of fruits and veggies.
For my second lunch, I'll either have PB&J on whole wheat, tuna on a light bagel or whole wheat or a light bagel w/ WW cream cheese.

I eat just about every 2-3 hours, but I dont eat alot.

I also love to work out, so its not hard getting to the gym. But when I first started or days when I'm not in the mood, I bring my gym bag to work with me so I have NO EXCUSE!

totally just bookmarked this!

ok few questions (if you dont mind)
shredded wheat the cereal, yes? just the plain one?
so originally i had cut ouit bagels totally cuz they were one of my weaknesses but then i found out about WW bagels - are they really ok? like not taste-wise but calorie-wise they won't screw me over?
also i'm allergic to nuts and everywhere always suggests nuts or PB as a healthy snack and i can't do that - what can i do!?!?

p.s. you are my favorite and i will buy you a present.

Re: Need support for my new goal! (long-ish)

I eat the regular shredded wheat (the mini biscuits.) no frosting or anything. All bran cereal is also good.

Also, the WW bagels aren't bad but what are less calories are Kim's Light Bagels @ Stop and Shop (they also have a stop and shop brand).

You should also try the Special K. Crackers. Laughing cow cheese is good. You can put that on a whole wheat english muffin or the crackers. WASA crackers are healthy (but not that tasty). Anything with alot of fiber will keep you full.

And I don't need a present...I just need you to reach your goal- thats your present. Nowwwww I want that present by august 1st!

We can totally do this!!! Im down 12 pounds .. have another 15 to go ..

I agree its 80% what youre eating and 20% exercise .. and its best to eat small meals every few hours .. not meals in between but like almonds, fat free yogurt, carro sticks ..

BUT - when you are craving something, say chocolate .. I drink Myoplex Lite ready to drink protein shakes ... I promise you they taste good and they fill you up and can be used in between your regular meals ..
