Need Timeline Opinions Please

Need Timeline Opinions Please

So here's the deal:

someone already booked my church for 3:00 so FH and I were put in the book for 4:30. This would be the timeline:

4:30-5 church (ceremony not full mass)
5-6:30 pictures and get to Giorgio's from Port Jeff
6:30-8 cocktail hour
8-12 reception
12-1 overtime vienese hour

Does this sound reasonable? It is a Friday night wedding so I don't want to make the night too late and I want people to stay and enjoy the VH!

I'm trying to figure out when we would take pictures at the RH and not miss our cocktail hour. Help please!!!

I do not think you are going to have enough time if you only have 1 1/2 hours between the chruch and the cocktail hour.

Even if you run out of the church at 5 (which will not even happen because people are going to want to great you). If will take some time to get from Port Jefferson to Giorgios.

I am having 3 hours for pictures (and that is not including travel time). We are taking pictures before our ceremony because we do not want to miss any of the cocktail hour.

We are doing a reveal before we do pictures where the photographer will be able to capture the first time FH sees me.

I hate to say it but most people wont stay for your VH. I know I probably wouldn't, not all the way out East if i didnt have a hotel room.

Also, the pictures and travel time is short. You probably should do a reveal before the ceremony and get some pics done then. If you are completely against that, just realize you may likely arrive halfway through your CH.

That's what I'm worried about. If we pay for the VH I want people to stay and enjoy it! I also don't want to miss my CH.

This stinks. : (

If you do not want to miss the CH then I think that you are going to have to do some (if not all) of the pictures before the ceremony!

are you open to the reveal before the ceremony?

Are you set on the church? Maybe look into other churches in the area who can do a 3pm mass or earlier to give you more time?

I'm not really sure. I think I am more open to finding another church, to be honest. I know the church in Wading River is open for my date (at least it was when a called a few days ago). I just really wanted this to work out bc FH's parents got married there and so did all of his cousins. I'm worried that even if we did do a reveal, we would still be rushing to get to the reception and wouldn't have any time for pics at Giorgio's. I'm so bummed.

Re: Need Timeline Opinions Please

If you do the reveal you would get most of the pictures done before the church (You would just have to find a place for pictures) so even if you only have a half hour at Giorgios between the end of the church and coctail hour it would be ok.

If it were me, I would do a reveal, do all the pictures before the church and then have the church... Take some pictures after at the church and then head over to Giorgios. You should have at least 30 minutes to take pictures at Giorgios which should be ok!

Another thing you have to remember is that you are getting married when the sun will set pretty early so unless you get to Girogios early you will not be able to take pictures outside

Re: Need Timeline Opinions Please

Thanks, Mara. I think my only two options at this point are the reveal or an earlier church somewhere else. You make a good point about the sun setting early. I really wanted to start my CH at 5:30 that way when people arrive it's not totally dark out. And I would love to get some pictures at the beach and on the golf course before it's too dark.

I guess FH and I will have to discuss and see what would make us both happy.

Thanks, Sarah. Last I spoke to Rob he said I could get there whenever I wanted. I should really check with him to make sure someone didn't book during the day!

This may not be the best opinion/ solution but is the day of your wedding special for any reason?? If you can't move the church, or the times, and you are still worried about it - maybe move it to another weekend? (Granted they place doesn't charge you for that and your date didn't have significant meaning, and they have another date open!?)

That way you won't be rushed, you can get married in FH's parents church for the sentimental values, and might work out better?

^ I wish this was an option but Giorgio's is totally booked for Fri/Sat weddings in 2012.

I'm going to speak to FH tonight. Maybe he will agree to meet the other priest. Fingers crossed...

Thanks for all of the suggestions ladies!

just throwing this out there but any chance you'd get married at giorgio's? that way you can eliminate the travel time from church, do reveal earlier and take pics there? it's a big change but thought i'd throw it out there.

i'm totally freaking now that i found out that there is now a day wedding on my date and i can't get to giorgio's until 5:01. ahhh.

I thought about it for a second because it would make my life SO much easier, but FH and I really want to get married in a church.

At least in June it will still be light outside, so getting there at 5 isn't too bad. The wedding starts at 6, right? They will have it all under control! Don't worry!

if you are ok with the reveal, maybe do the non-Giorgio's pics before the ceremony and then after the ceremony go straight to Giorgio's and take the pics there. An hour and a half should cover your Giorgio's pics I think.

I know it's hard to think of missing the cocktail hour, but if you have to... I would make it end at 7:30 so that the Vienesse ends at 12:30. Especially if on a Friday everyone is tired from working (guests). Plus, I know most people do not like getting their dinner at 10pm... A half hour makes a big difference. This is just my opinion. I'm taking all pictures before the ceremony and just a few during cocktail hour. I didn't want to miss mine either.... although I have a feeling I will end up hiding away and at least my FH can enjoy it.

Re: Need Timeline Opinions Please

^ I think you're right. My two biggest things are that I don't want people eating dinner too late and I don't want people leaving before the VH. And I didn't get to speak to FH last night about this bc he had a work function and I didn't want to bother him about the wedding when he got home. I guess we'll work it out this weekend..

Thanks again girls.
