need tips on negotiating a good RH price
so, my friend in ATL is asking me for tips...this is what i wrote to her so far (of course results can vary...lol)
but what else can be added?? i thought this might be a useful thread for other brides-to-be RH shopping...
Don’t go with a date SET in your mind…they might think they can trap u because YOU wanted that date
Talk very casually about the date…summer is preferable….but what if the prices are better in september? I would just try to hear alllll the options. Make them work for your money, ya know. how much is a Friday in September….a Sunday in august…a Sunday afternoon in june
Ask if there are any dates that are “on sale”…some places heavily discount dates like fathers day or 9/11…not saying I would go for those dates…but you really just want to better understand their price range and what it covers
Don’t tell them that you are ready to book THAT DAY…until you are really!! negotiating….most ppl when they look at halls, go once..think about…go look at other places..then come back. If you like the place, and the prices are decent…then you can tell them, what if I were to sign the contract TODAY…can we do a little better (of course they can say no, but its worth trying. Lololol)
Other ways to decrease the cost –
*Do you need ALL the décor they are providing? If the church is naturally beautiful…do you need all the extras?
*Do you need ALL the food options? For example, a surf-and-turf dinner for everyone is usually cheaper than a selection of chicken/fish/meat because they know exactly how much food to buy and less food goes to waste.
*Can you bring your own alcohol? (they should still serve it though). Or can you limit alcohol to just beer and wine? Will this save on money?
*Don’t forget to ask how much children cost!! And how much teenagers (THEY DON’T DRINK) cost!!
*How much do vendors cost (you have to feed most of them too)? If you use a recommended vendor, do they eat for free?
