I am so angry! And of course while I have been up since 7 stressing over everything my calm dh is sleeping away.
His shop (local 3 electrician) is going down hill. He hasnt gotten his check in 3 weeks and e just finds out from a coworker not even his boss that they are closing for 2 weeks during the christmas holiday with NO PAY!!!!!!
He was trying to get in touch with his boss last night and he conveniently doesnt answer his phone. How can someone do this to his employees during Christmas of all times!!!!!
And nothing seems to bother him, I know for a fact that he hasnt started one bit of his shopping, we have no money without dipping into savings which I so do not want to do and now hes going to be off 2 weeks with no pay! And hes in there snoring!
Just needed to vent!!!!!!

yikes......sorry this is happening. That's GOT to be illegal esp since he is Local 3!!! Is there anyone else he can call, like the 2nd in charge or someone?
He's probably snoring away so he doesn't have to wake up and think about all this....

Relax! Look at the positive aspects of having him home for two weeks. Can he get a transfer to a better shop?

Just wanted to give you some hugs...don't worry everything will work out in some way.
men sometimes don't show their stress level...I had no idea that DH's company was not doing well right before he was laid off...almost like they have to hide their emotions...
people will understand about gifts...bake cookies...shop at marshalls (they have every price range)

Definately have him call his union rep. Half of my family is in Local 3 and they have never had those issues. I know sometimes they have 'forced' layoffs for a few weeks at a time but they are paid from their union fund so you never see a dip in pay.

the whole local is going under? i am confused.
is it just his company or the whole local? can he join another company? does he know anyone that he can get some work with? i know some electricians that are union but work on their own (they pay their dues but they don't want to work under someone else) they are subcontracted from a contractor. can he do that?
i think alot of men handle stress differently.
trust me he's worried, maybe when you are asleep durning the night he is awake thinking of what to do.
either way, good luck, i hope things work out. he should talk to his union and see what his options are.

No NO..not the whole local...thank God! LOL
Thing is..he came to this shop because he was friends with the owner but more so the owners' sons. So its hard for him to complain or to leave...friends and business make it very hard.
He talked to his boss yesterday and he claims tomorrow..all cash in hand..we will see..if not knowing my dh he will wait around for a forced layoff and then hopefully will be placed soon.
Local 3 is one of the best unions and I love him being in it. They offer so much and its so reliable. Im not complaining about the local at all....
