As some of you may have read about my passport issue... I have been having trouble getting in touch with a congressman this week (im assuming since its July 4th week and all) so i figured I would try and attempt a phone call to the passoprt office again.... Well after being on hold for 45 minutes i actually got through to a person
Unfortunatly said person did not care about my plight at all, told me that my passport was not recieved until a full month after I applied for it and becuase I am more than 2 weeks away from my wedding and travel date she would not help.... Not could not becuase she was taking down information and told me she would move it along until she found out the date i need it by. I very polightly tried to explain to her what it is like trying to get time off with FH at the same time in order to get marrage liscences since we both work in retail we need to request time off 2 weeks in advance minimum! this on top of all of my other appointments, and planning so I need my birthcertificate back asap... and this lady just could care less.
Im so stressed out right now i really dont know what to do.... well no i know what to do get a congrassman on the phone and pray that they can fix this.
Im just beside myself... Im so close to my breaking point right now, this passport stuff might push me over

I might be a lil tired or whatever, but I dont quite understand what exactly you are having a prob with...
If you need your BC back and its an emergency, just order a certified copy fo a new one. I almost had to do this when my passport wasnt going to come in time for my cruise (since they had my BC too)... And it is true... they will not do anything for you unless you are at the 2 week window...
I got my passport with BC back 2 days before I was leaving on my trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 freakin days... so dont expect miracles

I just had a bunch of work done on my car.... I really dont have money to spare to have them resend me my BC when it is the governments fault that I am in this situation. Not to mention the fact that I had my BC reissued to apply for my passoprt, now I have to double pay becuase they cant follow their own timelines.

Money might be tight but this is probably what you will have to do! Sorry that I do not have better advice for you

I found that they were really strict with the two-week time frame too. I think they're just so overwhelmed because now everyone needs a passport to travel abroad. Another option you have is to go to a passport agency. I know there is one in Manhattan. You need to call and make an appointment, but you can get it back that day. The only thing you need to do then is make sure they cancel your original passport application. Good luck!

They are so nasty when you call them. I needed my passport for Acapulco and after calling and calling them, they finally told me that I had to rush order it. So on top of the 99 dollars that I had already paid, I had to pay another fee. It was crazy! I know what you are going through. Good Luck with everything!

Where were you both born? It will cost you money, but getting new birth certificates is probably the best thing to do. I couldn't find mine, although I know it's around here somewhere, but I didn't want to risk it, so I ordered a new birth certificate online (I was born in NYC.) Ordered it Sunday, it came on Wednesday, cost me about $35.
I do get their problem, though--my office is across the street from the passport office in downtown Manhattan, and it's been CRAZY! There are hundreds, and hundreds of people waiting on the sidewalk every day. Other years, in the summer, there would be a line outside and it would be gone by lunchtime. Now it's a madhouse, I don't walk in that direction anymore because the streets are impassable.

Except you can't make an appt with them unless it's within a short time before you're leaving. Don't remember exactly what it is, but it's around two weeks or ten days. And as I said in my other post, it's CRAZY down there. You'd probably wait all day in the Manhattan heat. Besides, if you don't have your documents, how can you do that?

I get what you're saying, but...the govt doesn't care that you paid already and you just had your car fixed. If you want to go on your honeymoon as planned, it's not that much to pay. Think of it as a honeymoon expense.
