need to vent

need to vent

I created another username bc I don't want anyone I know seeing this from me.

This is kind of long. My fiance dated this girl about 4-5 years back - broke up with her after 2 to 3 years of on and off again dating. It wasn't a very clean break- they'd still talk and see each other as friends when they were in the same town but nothing intimate would happen (they were trying to preserve their friendship of 10 years- or at least he was). When the 2 of us met (fiance and i), they weren't really talking anymore. Her mom and my fiance's mom were good friends- that's how they met. They still maintained some sort of friendship after the breakup although it was really strained bc her mom blamed his mom for interfering in the relationship and telling FI to break up w/ her. Anyway, his ex went a little crazy, calling up in the middle of the night crying or sending emails reminiscing about their time together or harrassing FI's brother and cousin and friends - telling them to tell FI to break up with me. He began to ignore her calls after trying to talk to her tellingl her to stop. Nothing worked. Then she stopped calling. Until we got engaged. She found out about it from her mom who found out from FI's mom- his mom felt that she should know. Then, ex calls up FI crying hysterically, calls up his brother, gets ****ed off, calls FI at work every 1/2 hour. And this is the day after getting engaged- it ruined my mood completely for that whole week. Prior to this when FI's mom tells psycho's mom, she then flips out, curses, slams on the dashboard of the car, saying that FI is a bad man and that he needs to start acting like an adult and take responsibility and how FI's mom was the reason her daughter is miserable. FI's mom kicked her out of the car - so when I heard this I thought it was the end of their friendship that was so strained to begin with. But NOW FI's parents and her parents with another couple are going on vacation together!!!! I don't know what their problem is! WHY would you want to be friends w/ a lunatic woman like ex's mom??? AND i feel them maintaining a friendship w/ her parents is disrespectful to me and to my FI. Am I wrong to feel this way??? I am sorry this is so long and I'm sure it's jumbled but I hope you get the drift of the situation.

His mom and her mom were friends before those two ever dated so they will probably remain friends.
I know its easier to say but I think you should just try to ignore them and not let it bother you.
He loves you and wants to spend his life with you.
Unfortunately it looks like the two families are very friendly which doesn't make you feel very happy and that is understandable. But you cannot expect them to end their friendship because their kids dated each other.
Try not to get annoyed and just remember that YOU are the one he loves and wants to be with!
YOU be the stronger, better person who isn't affected.

I see what you are saying. I know my FI loves me -that's not what I have a problem with. It bothers me that his mom can continue a friendship with someone who badmouthed his son the way she did. I guess I am being petty.

You just have to remember that he WANTS YOU, and think to yourself how much of a loser this chick is!

Do you know if they are planning to invite ex's parents to your wedding? Are they that close? I would let his mom know your feelings and make it clear that you don't want them invited to your wedding. Good Luck and don't worry about the ex, obviously he loves you and wants to be with only you.

His mom was friends with this lady for years. They had words but obviously their friendship is very strong. THEIR friendship has nothing to do with YOUR relationship.
Try not to let it get to you.Its not his fault that they are so friendly and it has no effect on your relationship. I know its easy for me to say.I would feel uncomfortable too.

No- they are not invited to the wedding. FI made sure of that. He definitely doens't want to see them, nor do they want to see him. His mom can't even mention FI's name in front of her mom- they made some deal that he wouldn't be talked about. I just dont understand what the point is of continuing their 'friendship'

I'm going to be seeing them the week after their trip- I don't even want to hear one thing about it. Ugh. I wish I wasn't like this but all the crap his ex did infuriates me (there was more to the story).

Thanks for your advice ladies! I will/am trying to put this out of my mind.

As difficult as it is and easier said than done, I think you should respect their friendship and not worry about it. However, if I was you, I would speak with your mil and tell her that you would feel much better if she did not share your wedding details with this crazy woman & her daughter.

That is stressful- but obvoiusly they have been friends for too long and they had just had it out like friends tend to do sometimes- as long as your FH has no ties to them - then you should seperate the relationship the FI's have with the EX's parents- this should be a happy time planning to spend your life with this man so take a deep breath and dont let these people take up any more or your energy- and change your number
