Ok, first off, let me say that I want to choke her again, and this time I think I might do it for real.... JT and I were at his parents house today, and his mother was getting on both our nerves to the point where I thought he was going to EXPLODE on her, and he is the most even tempered person...but I'm getting off topic....so anyways, a little back story here.... our bestfriend Mike (Jt's BM) has chrones disease and was in the hospital for internal bleeding Friday night, and he checked himself out even though he shouldn't have, but he's going in to his doctor in the city tomorrow, ok, fine. So he comes by JT's house, and before he got there, both JT and I said to his mother, who is the nosiest person alive, 'PLEASE do not mention his chrones disease or the fact that he has to have surgery. He's very embarrassed by it for some reason and does not want anyone to know.' So she said, ok. Mike gets there, and what's the first thing out of her mouth? OH MY GOD! ARE YOU GONNA BE OK? And he was so MAD, so so so mad. He was mad to the point that he said to her, I do not want to talk about this with you, I'm sorry, it's not something I like to discuss. And SHE STILL KEPT TALKING TO HIM ABOUT IT! I was giving her looks and finally I was like, ok, let's change the subject! So then she tries telling him that he shouldn't trust the doctors because afterall, what do they know, and that doctors are quacks, etc, blah blah. I was FUMING and so was JT so we left. I CANNOT STAND HER! Luckily our friend Mike knows her well enough to know how nuts she is, but I want to kill her. I was supposed to stay there with JT tonight, and I left. I could not stay there. She might not have woken up tomorrow. Unfortunately Jt has to help someone move tomorrow and they live right by his mom, so he stayed. Ok, sorry so long, just had to vent.

I think your first answer was right!! My FMIL is wacked the girls will tell you. She is not a nice person. The only thing that keeps me sane is that she is in FL and I am here!! I will not go to FL and Frankie knows if she EVER thinks that she is coming to stay with us I am moving home to my mom's!!
Move away from her!! Minimum contact and caller Id-- they are all lifesavers!

Oh, let me tell you, they were thinking of my FMIL when they invented caller id! I just can't take her. I think there is something definitely wrong with her. And she cycles. For a few months, she is awesome and normal and fun, and then for a few months she just absolutely, ridiculously insane. I don't really care what her issue is, I just know that I can't stand her and want to choke her. I really really want to. God forgive me for saying that, but man, this woman is as dumb as the day is long.

I'm telling you, all of them need to form the 'disfunctional mothers bowling league'. They'd bond instantly. Either that or they would drive eachother nuts! Which just might be better!

well mikes aunt is like that.... we cant stand her for numerous other reasons... but if i paired her up with my mom i think they wouldnt get along too well definately would drive each other nuts..

UUGGGHHHH my FMIL is the same way. She brings up all sorts of things about me, FH, FFIL, and FSIL in public - everything from my undergarments (*cough* that's putting it much more nicely than she does) to all sorts of personal details about FFIL's surgery. We were at a Fire Dept dinner and some of the other wives came up to me and were like 'I feel so bad for you...' A FORMAL dinner and she's telling everyone she's going to take me shopping for crotchless undies for my wedding night!!!

Not that I know JT all too well but I know he seems like a very quiet, sweet person and for him to get upset. WOWZERS!!!
I would start making more and more infrequent trips there. I am thinking if you guys are near her she is going to be butting in A LOT after you get married.

Definitely Jenn. I always tell him that when we have kids, his mother is NOT watching them. I do not want her thinking that she can impose her negativity on our sweet children. (well, now, if they're devils, it's Camp Grandma all summer!)

Rachel, I laughed out loud after reading your post about the invention of caller-id! My FMIL is a pain in the a$$. Last night I found out that she called another Rabbi that SHE likes to see if he was available for our date. Turns out he wasn't, but Hello? Maybe someone wants to ask me first??? She hasn't fully accepted the fact that her son has moved out (we moved in together a week ago) and wants us to constantly go over for dinner and I just can not take her. She also thinks she is all knowledgeable and knows everything and the truth is that I know more than her! Sorry, I guess I needed to vent too!
