That ****s!! Just try and go and enjoy your e party..its about you and your finace..noone else..if there is any tension..kindly ask them to STOP whatever it is..

Aww... I feel bad for you, it must be very difficult. How about you set up an area for your mom to sit, like a table just for her and family that she is already close with? That way she can feel comfortable, and she won't be forced to 'mingle'. If people want to meet her, they can always go up to her or you can bring them over an introduce them. That way she never leaves her comfort zone... Just a suggestion... I wouldn't really know what the best thing would be, I'm sorry your FSMIL doesn't seem to be compassionate.

I am sorry too that you are worried, instead of looking foward to the day. I like the idea of sitting her with family.

What tension? God, people will create drama any chance they can. If this comes up again, I would just say 'What tension?' Don't let them put you on the spot.

My mom isn't shy but she is all alone, no brothers and sisters, no husband or boyfriend. When we get married I am going to make sure one of my friends keeps an eye on her, to see that she is never alone and never in an awkward situation.

Maybe you can do the same for your mom, keep her moving, and keep her with nice people. Invite some friends who understand and whom your mom already knows and have them hang out with her so your mom doesn't get cornered by crazy people.

If anyone from your in-laws family starts in with drama before the party, just tell them 'this will be a drama-less, happy event. No tension allowed, ok?'

Thanks girls! I knew I could count on you to make me feel better. I am actually having seating so, mom will be with the rest of my family. I was just so annoyed that she was so condisending. My dad is a social man, so he will stick with my mom and of course take the spotlight of of her!
