Fox Hollow is VERY nice, there are multiple weddings at a time and the grounds to take pictures are not very big. The food is good. My cousin's wedding was there!

I really liked the Riviera and they have good prices there. Nice outdoor cocktail hour and great outdoor pics....

My only thing was what if it rains?!?! Not so much as of pics on the inside

I didn't like the food at coral house. just not my kind of place either. fox hollow is so pretty. I am just worried about the outdoor ceremony so close to the street. I keep joking if we pick that place and I hear a car beep from the street during the ceremony I am going to start laughing hysterically. but then again I didn't walk up to where I'd be standing. we were all the way by the back, by the fountains. I really wish I moved up more to see if there was a difference in sound.

I looked at fox hollow and thought it was really nice.

I also went to look at Coral House and didnt even wait for my appt. We sat down and waiting for the person to meet with us and FH and i both decided to use the restrooms. I walked out of the bathroom, looked at him with a look of disgust, he then told the person that we just got a call and need to go and we would reschedule. The restrooms were gross and dirty. There was no event going on while we were there so perhaps they clean them prior but either way it was a huge turnoff for us. FH said the mens room was in bad shape too.

Why not try westbury manor, it is a scottos rh like FH and it is not near the turnpike it's not directly on the road, you have to drive up it.

I looked at Coindre Hall and didn't like the dinner/dancing split. The dance floor is set up in a different room from dinner. I also didn't like the outdoor ceremony area. It's in a grass patch in the middle of a circular driveway. Aside from the big tree it wasn't a very pretty setting.

FH's sister just got married at Majestic Gardens in May and it was very pretty. The garden ceremony was really nice and the food was very good, especially during the cocktail hour. Not a lot of light in the ballroom though, but this wouldn't really matter if you had an evening wedding. Also, it was a very big room and with only 130 people, it felt a bit spread out.

Good luck!

Re: Need venue help

i think it depends what is most important to you

picture taking locations (outside/inside)
food quality/selection
1 wedding at a time

i think if you can prioritize the list, we can give better feedback....

Just a little reminder , don't bash other peoples RH's if you have something bad to say FM people. we don't want to hurt anyone feelings.

everyone loved the food as far as i was told...

Linda is a sweetheart and will do a lot if you are really considering booking there...

I think 1st is food
2nd is view/pictures
3rd is one event at a time (assuming you are not right on top of each other)

We have since ruled out Coral House, Fox Hollow and Coindre (they never got back to me).

Front runners so far are Riviera and Majestic Gardens. Waiting for a call back from Crest Hollow. Other suggestions? I would love on the water with a possiblity of an outdoor ceremony but a good indoor alternative. Approx 150 people.

How about Milleridge Cottage? They aren't on the water, but it is one wedding at a time, and the food is sooo good. Thats why we booked there!
There isn't much of a view, but there is a little village that they have on the grounds that is really cute for pics.
Good luck!

What about one of the lombardi venues? How many people are you having?

angel716 Posted:

Re: Need venue help

We will probably have approx. 150 people. I read some reviews - and not to put anyone else's places down - and the Lombardi places didn't get the best reviews. I was also just now looking at Sand Castle and Stuart Manor.

Does anyone actually think this whole planning this is fun? Or a am I just over thinking everything.

150 is too big for the lombardis. The food isnt comparable w the sand castle though. Much better at lombardis. And if you want a nice setting you wont get it at the sandcastle. The area is ehhhh. The place is nice though.

I dont know about stuart manor though.

Re: Need venue help

I dont know what your budget is and based on the places listed, these are probably way out but if you want beautiful grounds and incredible food i dont think anything is comparable to land's end and flowerfield.

Again, theyre really expensive.

What about old field club?

And someone mentioned westbury manor before. Food's good and the place is gorgeous and they're a bargain in my opinion.

Re: Need venue help

I was at a wedding at Westbury Manor within the last few years. It was really good, but I am trying to find somewhere that half my party would not have attended together.

Also, my father uses a walker, so I can't have too many stairs. I think I need a break from looking. Try again tomorrow.
