need vet rec now!

does anyone know a vet in the centereach/selden area that treats guinnea pigs? My pig has a syst that isnt right. Hate to be gross, but it is oozing and smelling. She has been crying for the past 2 days non stop. She is usually a crier so me and my DH didn't think anything of it until today. Not many vets treat small animals. I want to get her in right away!

I live in Nassau county, try East Meadow Veterinary, or contact the Boces for small animals out there they might be able to help. Or even try the Centerreach animal hospital, I think that is the name maybe she can steer you in the right direction. I hope the pig is okay.

I hope everything is ok.

Our one ferret had a lump on his head and a cut with a nasty scab that got so large it would cause his eye to close. It was a tumor and we had it removed and biopsied and it turns out it was nothing terrible. It was a popped sweat gland and the only bad thing about it is its possible it can come back.

So keep hope, it may be nothing (I know its oozing and smells) but be positive. We thought the worst with the ferret and everything turned out good.

Sayville Hospital for Animals - they are on the service drive of Sunrise, between Johnson and Lincoln 631-589-5120 Look for blue trim on the building and a statue of a dog.

I don't know if they treat guinea pigs or not, but Dr. Di Martino is DH's 2nd cousin and they've been there for years. They list day, evening and weekend appointments and emergency service available.

Good luck!

I got to Dr. Kaplan at the Smithtown Animal Hospital. I don't know if he treats small animals, but Arnold likes him, and we've had good experiences.

Good luck with your piggie!

I go to Centereach Animal Hospital. It is on Middle Country Road in Centereach...right acroos from that car wash....going a little west of Nicolls Road.
I use Dr. Griffith....I dont know that they take guinea pigs. You can call and ask. She is great with my kitty, he likes her.
I dont have the number, but they are in the phone book.
I hope your little one feels better

I second Dr. Dimartino - he has been our vet for ages and is great. Also if it is an emergency, call Atlantic Coast Veterinary - they are on Vets Highway in Bohemia. I am not sure if they do guinea pigs, but they can definitly tell you where to go, if they don't.

Patchogue Veterinary Clinic, does take small animals, well at least they take rabbits, so try there! Good luck to your guinea pig!
