Need words of advice, please

Need words of advice, please

How do you keep from getting depressed when you're TTC & you get your period?

I've never been so upset to see it come AND it was like 4 DAYS EARLY!!
I'd been hoping, since I've been feeling generally sh***ty & was ready to take an early test, but then it came, so ... I cried for the next 2 days.

I know I know the answer to this ... probably just need to vent.

Thanks!

I totally understand how you feel. How long have you been trying? If it's only been a couple of months, I would say that is what you should remember when you get upset. Enjoy your time (and love life) with your DH and remember to have fun!

When I got my period when we trying, I just thought of it as on to the next cycle and counted the days til I was supposed to ovulate. So, now that you have your period you're closer to ovulating. Then, the fun starts all over again!!
I think that the time after you ovulate drives a person more crazy than between o'ing and your period (or a + test).

Are you using OPKs or charting? If you haven't been using these methods, it might help and cut down the time it takes to conceive.

Good luck and *~*~*~* baby dust *~*~*~*

you're right, nina. Two months isn't long in the grand scheme of things, I know. But when you consider that I went off the pill in as of Sept., and we were hoping for a HM baby ... long shot, I know, but still ..... its dissapointing.

We just got the OPK with the Monitor this week. I thought i'd better get it, since my periods don't seem to be generally regular .. I've been all over the place ... anywhere between 24 - 28 days .. so I thought this might help. Several of the girls here have said that it worked for them. So, I'm trying it.

I'm just impatient in general. Never like to wait for anything .. and I feel like I've been waiting FOREVER for this! OK, thinking calm thoughts. You're right .. having fun is the best part. I should enjoy my freedom & DH while I still have it.

Some perspective might help...one of my best friends has been married for almost 8 years, and has been trying for 4 years to conceive a child. She feels hopeless most days, which I'm sure you can understand. What's worse is, doctors have done every test imaginable and cannot explain or pinpoint a single reason why. She has tried several different fertility treatments, and so far, no good things have happened for her.

You, however are just starting this process. There is no magic timeframe. While I know this is frustrating, I also cannot tell you to calm down or to stop feeling so sad. Your feelings are your feelings, and you have to deal with your own disappointment. Just try to stay positive and give yourself a chance. What ever is meant to be, will be.
God bless and baby dust to you!!

I have to 'second' what Claud just said and then give you my own story and advice. I tried for 19 months! and NOTHING, the pressure for me was on because I am 35 years old. I didn't really get too depressed every month because my body told me something just wasn't right. I finally went to a decent doctor who properly diagnosed me with Fibroid tumors and I had surgery on Oct.15 of 2002 and I got pregnant 10 days later!!

So my advice to you, not knowing your age and medical history..is to 'enjoy' trying for at least 6 months and after that time, I suggest you go and get checked out, it's also more difficult if your periods are irregular, so the ovulation kit will help. Also please start taking your pre-natal vitmins and I'm sending you some baby dust! *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*

It gets you down when you want something so badly and it doesn't happen, been there doing that!

As Claud said your feelings are your feelings, but TRY not to stress yourself over it, because stress is not good for the body. Enjoy each other and the romance that comes with TTC and take those pre-natals

I agree that if after 6 months nothing happens you should discuss it with your doctor.

I am going to say that it totally $uck$ when you want soooo badly to be pg and your AF (awful friend) arrives. It doesn't matter how long you've been trying, it still just plain stinks. Of course, it much get harder the longer you are trying, but that doesn't diminish how you feel right now. One girl told me that she looks at every period as the first day of a new chance (since it is day 1 of your new cycle). Not sure if that will help, but I hope it does.

Michele ... that's a good way of thinking about it. I will keep that in mind ...
