Need Your Advice

Hi Ladies!

So all of my bridesmaids will be together during Christmas time and I'm not sure when we might get this chance again until the following Christmas since 1 lives in Florida and 1 lives in Boston. I am getting married May 2016 so it'll be a little less than a year and a half until the wedding. I was planning on taking all my girls to look at bridesmaid dresses to get an idea of what style look best on them. I spoke to my brother last night and he said my SIL wanted to rent a limo for all of the girls to go shopping because she assumed I was going to look for my dress while everyone was there, which I didn't have planned.

So my question is, should I also look for my dress while everyone is with me? Is it possible to look at bridesmaid dresses and bridal dresses in on appointment or would this be too overwhelming? Now I'm possibly thinking about not doing bridesmaid dress shopping with everyone and only looking for my wedding dress. What do you think I should do? Bridesmaid dress only, bridal gown only, or both?! lol What have your experiences been?

And is getting a bridal gown 17 months in advance too early?

I don't think it is too early, that's about how far out ingot mine! I think it's better to start looking that way you don't feel rushed or pressured to get something you're not 100% in love with. I also think it's good because if it's a nightmare with all the girls and opinions you'll have plenty of time to go yourself without everybody.

You're right thank you! The more I thought about it, I think I'd rather just go with my MOH first to look at bridesmaid dresses instead of having 5 girls with me trying to try on all of these different styles lol

Yeah, I thought it would be too crazy having them all at once so the initial visit I went with just the MoH and limited it to a few dresses. Then I took the rest to try the two or 3 we liked, and only those!

It's never too early to start looking for either. But remember that styles change with the seasons, so what you or your bridesmaids might like now, may not be available for purchase as your wedding date gets closer.

Thank you girls! I think I've decided just to look for my bridal gown now and next year at some point look for bridesmaids.

I don't think it's too early to start looking. I'd be more concerned having all of those people there while trying on dresses, but that's just me.

I am definitely very concerned about that! lol I'm going to go with my mom and MOH beforehand so I can hopefully narrow it down and find one that I love and hopefully everyone else will love too! My bridal party isn't too opinionated (only MOH is) so it shouldn't be too bad!

Yes. I don't think I could have handled all of their opinions at once. My MOH and I will pick a few and have the other girls try them on when it gets closer, well probably wait until a year or so out before ordering unless we know something is going to be discontinued. Other than that it's no rush. Enjoy the time and don't let it stress you out. Don't be afraid to tell them no lol
