Hi ladies, my friend who got engaged over the summer and was planning a Nov 2011 wedding just broke off her engagedment. It's for the best and the situation just *****. So anyway, she had already put down a deposit on a dress. It was way too soon but this bridal salon talked her into it and said she should do it cause the dress might be discontinued. So now she and her fiance break up and she calls this store and they won't give her any money back. They have not even ordered the dress yet! They wont even give her a store credit! What should she do?

There's not really much she can do. She can put it up for sale on here or ebay... But she already gave the shop her money so she either loses the deposit, or pays the rest and gets the dress.

I agree, I am actually in the same situation, except the store I ordered from wants the entire amount of the dress (not just the deposit) . She has to look at the contract she signed. I would say that she should buy the dress and try to sell it, there are websites like oncewed.com and preownedweddingdresses.com where she can sell it. If it is new an unaltered she might be able to get 75% of the cost.
