Hope all is well and everyone is enjoying their planning. I am basically done, now its just allllllll the details of the wedding. My MOH and I were doing my wedding invitations over the weekend and were trying to come up with a nice way of saying the wedding is an adult event and no children are allowed. Now when my FH's brother got married, they stated on their invites that it was an adult event and some of their guests brought children anyway. My FH wanted to put something direct and to the point and trust me when I say, his mother would not be happy with it. The cut off age is 18 as one of my FH's guest will be bringing his wife and their daughter (my FH's cousin and soon-to-be mine = ) Any suggestions?

How do you incorporate for no children to attend? That is what we are really try to emphasize on.

I don't think you can get much more obvious than this that children are not allowed. Unfortunately, you can't really flat-out say 'No children' tactfully.

We will instruct guests to go to our wedding website for more details, and on there have
'So that all our guests can fully enjoy the Wedding Celebration, we ask that children not attend' or 'Our invitation is extended to persons aged 18 and over' or 'The Bride and Groom kindly request that Adults only attend the wedding reception'

My invitation says Adult Reception to Follow and the RSVP card says ___ of 2 seats have been reserved in your honor.

We addressed the invitations specifically only to adults. and if there were adult children in the house we even sent them their own invites. we kind of just spread the word, plus included on our website that the reception was 'adults only' and so far no one has RSVP'd with their kids included. We only got about half back though. I think the idea of the RSVP card saying '___ of 2 seats have been reserved in your honor' or something like that, with out specifically saying it's adults only or no children, is the most tasteful way to say it.

We did:
We have reserved ___ seats in your honor
___ Absolutely ___ Unfortunately
That way people know exactly how many people are invited from their household/per invitation
This! Except we did ____ Accepts
_____ Regrets
You can also address the envelopes to Mr. & Mrs Smith (exclude family)

Addressing the envelop should give people a clue but if that doesn't work, you can put Adult Formal Reception to follow on the RSVP card. That should be clue #2. This is what I did. Also, my FILs started spreading the word in conversation that kids aren't invited besides our nieces and nephews. for the most part people understood and said it will be a nice night out with their significant other.
