Need your help on Christmas Gift for FH...E & V what do you think???
Ok so FH really wants the Lionel Polar Express Train set to go around our Christmas Tree and my Dept 56 Dickens Christmas Village. I really want to get it for him especially because Last night he was on the Lionel web site and spent like an hour showing me videos of this train going around a Christmas Tree He is too much! lol!
Anyways, I would love to get this for him, cuz you just had to see him last night. So like a lil kid and this is their biggest wish list item. So here are the facts to help me decide.
1. FH and I set a spending limit of $100 - due to things being so tight with the economy and planning a wedding 2. I know FH went at least $50 over that limit 3. This item is $250 4. I really don't think I can afford it 5. I would love to see his face light up on Christmas morning with this gift! 6. I don't want to make him feel bad/guilty/insufficient that I went so much over the limit. 7. My other option for him is an Express Grey Wool Coat that he wants for $148 (def matching what he spent)
Please help!! I don't know what to do and I need your advice! I always go way overboard for Christmas and we promised each other we wouldn't this year. What would you do?

that's a tough one. i'm the type of person that i would get the train for him anyway. is there any way you and maybe his mom can get the train for him together? just so that he doesnt feel bad that you spent too much $ and this way he can still have it.

That might work...I also just found a brand new one on ebay for $220.....ahhhhh

To be honest I'd want to make my FH's face light up. I'd charge it and pay it off over time.

That is a really good idea!
By the way... What is it with men and train sets??? FH has been DYING for a train to go around the tree for a few years now!

I would probably get it cause i can never say no... but i totally understand not being able to afford it and also not wanting to go too over to make him feel bad. Can you chip in with someone and get it for him? Is there another special day you can combine it with? (for ex.. FH and my dating anniversary is Jan 1 so his christmas gift last year was a combo for both since it was alot).. maybe a joint christmas and wedding present? I dunno...but I def understand how happy it would make you to see him happy on Christmas morning.

my FH doesn't have an obsession with trains but he has one with the old school big metal tonka trucks. so last year i got a whole bunch for him off ebay. he says one day he'll play with them with our son cause toys aren't what they use to be. for now he puts our yorkie in the pick up truck and tries to take him for a ride around the apt. boys will be boys.

I'm a big softie, I'd get it for him anyway. Check around to see if someone is selling theirs off ebay or craigs list

I would do it....
he can;t really expect to show you that video a million times and you not get it...
I bought FH a PS3..even after we made the same kinda deal...I just love to see him light up...he was one of 7 ...so I tend to vote on the spoiling side....

Yeah the original price is $299 and ebay has it for $220 + shipping! I think I am gonna do it!
