Need your honest opinion re: Chuppah

OK, FH and I are very non religious, however we are being married by a Rabbi to keep the peace with our parents.

We obviously need to rent a Chuppah however the cost is pretty high, and there is an alternative in renting an Arch. The Arch is going to save us about $300 which may not seem like a lot of money, but as you know it will all add up.

So, Jewish brides and non-Jewish brides... what say you? Will an Arch be looked at in a bad way? I know interfaith ceremonies use an Arch all the time, but not when both parties are Jewish from what I know.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the reply. I should have added that the Rabbi does offer a traditional hand held chuppah that he can bring, free of charge.

I really want something decorative and pleasing to the eye, and for me, the hand held poles just are not going to work. I know FH would be OK with that, but truly in the July heat I do worry about the four honorary men passing out from heat exhaustion.

I am so torn.

The RH does not have a gazebo or any true structure I can use, which is why I have been chuppah shopping.

I have googled for pictures of 'traditional hand held chuppahs' and have seen what I think my Rabbi offered us. I just dont love it. I would welcome any pics that you find, and appreciate your interest in this!
