To add on the extra hour or not to? We have already added it on, but can take it off anytime we want should we choose to. Here are the options:
Add on full hour at the end of Reception, which will have it end a 1am, rather than 12.
Split it up - 1/2 more on cocktail, 1/2 hour more on reception... However, to do this we have to push the ceremony up a 1/2 also, starting at 6:00, rather than 6:30. Wedding will end at 12:30 We are considering this because ceremony is at RH and, we will not see eachother before ceremony, therefore we have to do pics during cocktail hr.
Or do we not add it on at all and just stick with our regular hours?? Ceremony 6:30-7 Cocktail 7-8 Reception 8-12
I am only thinking that since we will miss our cocktail hour, it would be nice to have the extra hour, whether at the end or split up. People keep telling me it is a waste to pay fpr the extra hour, but I dont know what to do!!!

I would think maybe add the 1/2 hour to each end because then you guys have a little extra time to take pics.

Re: Need your opinion...
it depends on your budget i think. if you can afford it comfortably then do it. if not, you'll have more than enough time without it
i get it tho since you are missing your CH for pics. we see each other before and take all the pics before so we will get to be at our CH.

Re: Need your opinion...
Do you guys think it would be bad to push the ceremony up a 1/2 hour? I am only thinking this because it is a Friday, and people have work. Also, I will put 5:30 on the invites.

IMO since you are not going to see each other before hand, add an extra 1/2 to the CH. At least this way, you have plenty of time to take your pics and you can make an appearance at CH. You are paying all this money for the food at least hopefully you can enjoy it for a little....
Thats just MO.

honestly 6 or 6:30 wouldn't make a diff to me on a fri. id have to take a half day to make it anyway. most people will do that to make it on time.

Re: Need your opinion...
We are splitting our extra hour. I want to enjoy some of the cocktail hour and the extra 1/2 hour will give us a chance to mingle with our guests instead of doing all that during the reception.

Yea, i like splitting it up too... I think an extended CH is AWESOME!! And it goes by so quickly so adding an extra half hour is definitley worth it!

Re: Need your opinion...
I agree splitting.... 1- i prefer CH and 2- we're having the same problem with the pics. I called to see if i could extend the CH 1/2 hour but after my wedding is already booked so i cant

Re: Need your opinion...
We chose to extend our CH by a half hour in order to leave time for pics. Lukily we will not be doing big group family pics and that is what eats up most the time. Prior to ceremony we will have all the seperate pics done. And we were quite clear with our photogrphers that our cocktail hour is 6:30 - 8 and we want to be in there by 7:15 the latest.

ITA. We moved our ceremony from 4 to 5 on a Friday and I don't think it makes a difference because our ceremony is in East Northport and most of our guests are coming from NYC and the boroughs. So if they're coming ot the ceremony, they're going to have to take 1/2 days.

Re: Need your opinion...
Thanks for your opinions girls ... I decided that I am going to split up my hour between the coktail and reception. I called my DJ to make sure that it wouldnt be a problem, and he assured me it wasnt. I definetly want the extra time since there will be no space in between the ceremony and the reception, I want to enjoy my wedding day as much as I can!!

Re: Need your opinion...
I was going to add a 1/2 hour to the reception then realizedto keep the band and photog an extra half hour was so $$$. So we added to the cocktail.
