Neg. comments said during your pregnancy.

I am tired of hearing all the neg myths said to me during my pregnancy. Yesterday, I told my girlfriend's mom that I was 12 wks. I thought the first words out of her mouth would be 'CONGRATULATIONS'. Nope!! It was don't ever tell anyone how far you are. don't let anyone touch your belly. BAD LUCK. I used to touch other preggos belly before. She just brouught all this neg. energy out to me.

Has any every had to deal with all these neg. myths? This is my happy time and I don't anyone to rain on my parade. Precise97

I can definately relate. I am so sick of everyone having some sort of comment, some sort of old wives tale!

I also can't stand that fact that once you become pregnant your like public property. Like my husband has said to me, I'm not Ellie anymore, I'm the baby storage unit - hahahah

People feel like they can say and do anything they want. There are actually family members that haven't made eye contact with me in months - there too busy staring at my stomach!!

I actually called me sister in law one day (who has had 2 beautiful little girls) and apologized to her for anything I may have said or done that was stupid during her pregnancies..

OMG.. dont even get me started!!!

I've heard so many stories about ppl having a horrible deliveries, how painful it is, the amount of hours it took to have their baby, etc..

Also, I get a lot of ppl telling me what not to eat, this is bad for me, that's bad for me.. It's so annoying! Why does everyone have negative things to say instead of positive things.

What bugs me the most is my co-worker who sits next to me. She's a 35 yr old mother of 2 and trys to compare her pregnancies to what I'm going through.. Were two different ppl!!!!
Mind you all she gives me is bad advice.

The worst is I went to the Dr. on Monday and I had a sonogram done because the nurse couldn't detect the heartbeat using the Doppler machine so the Dr. did a quick sonogram (btw the baby is doing great!) so he gave me a cute picture to have.. so I decided to show my co-worker my latest and greatest sono and I said.. 'oh look, could that be a boy? cause u can see a little thing sticking up'.. so she responds by saying.. 'Oh it's too early for that and besides you shouldn't want to know what it is'.. I wanted to slap her because my DH and I WANT to know and are excited to know.

She just puts me in a bad mood when I talk to her about being pregnant...it's like she's jealous or something.

Anyway.. When I was speaking to my Dr. in his office after the exam he specifically told me DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT PEOPLE SAY!!! If you have any questions to ask him.
People will tell you all negative, horrible stories but DO NOT pay attention to them!!! It will only cause you to stress out and you and your baby do not need it!

Thank god for LIW to keep me sane during my 9 months! I know if I have a question I can get honest happy thoughts and opinions instead of negative wrong advice from people who are jealous and mean.

People are always going to have stupid comments, even after your babies are born. I have a neighbor of my mother's who reminds me EVERY time she sees me (which is like daily because Mom babysits her) that Amber looks NOTHING like me. No kidding, like I didn't realize that on my own! She makes it sound like I swiped her from the cabbage patch!

I know it's hard to ignore them, especially when you are jacked up on hormones, but please don't let them poop on your party. That's giving in to what they want. I actually cut one friend completely out of my life when she suggested I have an abortion because she didn't think it was a good idea I be pregnant! Can you believe?!?

Actually my my mom and I went maternity clothes shopping because my regular pants were getting tight. She kept handing me Large size and I was saying how they were too big..
'She says well your getting bigger and bigger by the minute!'..
I was like thanks!
She also pointed out from the 13 week sonogram picture that they baby has a pointy chin like me..'hey, thanks again!'
She has been the best but sometimes the things that comes out of peoples mouths!!!

My mom does that to me too! We went bra shopping and made comments about how big my boobs were getting.. I went from a C to DD's!!!!!! It's kinda awkward that my boobs are the size of cantaloupes, I'm kinda uncomfortable with them being so huge, but then she has to go and make a comment about them.

Also, I didnt see my brother or my father in a few weeks and when they both saw me they said.. OMG your getting fat!! We'll that sent me into a crying hysteria for a good 1/2 hour. I cant believe they said that to me!!

Rule #1 !!! You never tell a pregnant woman she looks fat!!!! The nerve! After they both saw how upset I was they both apologized..

Oh, I almost forgot.. I saw my DH aunt over the weekend and she kept commenting on how big my boobs are.. she kept calling me busty and Dolly Parton.. I'm pregnant what do u expect, that's where I'm showing first!!

UGHHHH some ppl should just keep their comments to themselves!!

Re: Neg. comments said during your pregnancy.

Around my 6th month where I had only gained about 10 pounds at that point my MIL turned to me out of nowhere and asked me if the doctor had spoken to me about my diet during pregnancy. I didn't know where she was going with this so I just said yes, why? She then went on to tell me that I should really watch my salt intake. She said she felt I was eating too much salt and I should be more careful so that I don't gain too much weight and swell up.

This was coming from the lady who the day before was eating tons of potato chips while I had maybe a handful. I couldn't believe her.

I was so insulted and I felt like saying to her I'll take my doctors advice not yours, thank you. I just felt like it was very rude of her to say.

People have such nerve!

Since my in-laws have chronic foot-in-mouth disease, and NEVER have a nice thing to say, I'm REALLY not looking forward to dealing with them when I'm preggo

Thanks everyone for your stories and advice. I will do my best to block all those neg. comments. For now I will be more selective on whom I discuss my pregnancy with.

I just got 2 neg comments and I just found out that Im pregnant. I told my 'best FRiend' about my 5 postive results and she said 'oh well there is always that 1% chance that you are not pregnant!! ' Is that what you say to you best friend when she is soooo exicted to be pregnant after having 2 years filled with dealing with the loss of her mom and grandparents. Im not sure if our friendship will be the same. Another person said that I should wait to tell my il's becaus of friend that she knew told everyone and she had a miscarriage Im sorry but that is not the type of things you want to hear when you are feeling that happiest you have felt it a ling time.
