I'm married! The day was perfect. I'll post a big review on here once we've had a chance to breathe (and wade through all of those thank-you notes... ;)
Does anyone know what's up with the lack of negative reviews in the vendor review section? For the most part, all of our vendors were EXCELLENT- we couldn't have asked for better. We had some trouble with a few of them and were surprised to see only glowing, five-star reviews for them on this site. Does LI Weddings not actually post negative reviews? That seems pretty sketchy...
Thanks, ladies! Enjoy your week!

It seems to be the thing with review sites. I know Angie's List has given people a hard time when negative reviews are posted (FH's boss hired someone off Angie's List and they did a terrible job. He left a negative review and Angie's List ended up removing it.)
If you do have something to say about a vendor, I would be honest. It might be more useful to have a thread on it.

Congratulations! So glad you enjoyed your wedding day!
I find it hard to believe that all vendors are amazing at all times so it does seem pretty sketchy. I think it's best to be honest about your experience with vendors, it can help many future brides. Can't wait to read your full review!

I agree. I would prefer honesty over anything. Especially when it comes to preparing for the most important day of your life!

Please be honest. I've seen some iffy reviews on here of vendors. Usually they're over shadowed by 'but everything else was amazing' so it may be harder to read them. Definitely post honestly! :)

I am not sure exactly how it works on this website, but I posted a negative review on wedding wire and the company disputed it. I didn't feel like going through a whole ordeal just to have the review posted there, but basically if they don't like the review they can just dispute it and its gone unless you fight for it. Wasn't this website, but maybe it works a similar way.

Ugh-- that sucks! You should be able to be truthful about how things are! I post reviews on Yelp all the time and the owners can respond but usually they stay up as long as they're truthful!

This is why I like the brides review board on here. You get honest opinions on there.

I Yelped all my vendors lol. I caught on to the biased reviewing on websites very early in planning. The only thing is that you have to decipher between if the vendor was actually bad or the reviewer has impossible expectations.

Thanks, everyone. I also became suspicious early on... it's impossible for every single vendor to be perfect, and yet that's what the reviews seem to say! I posted a so-so review of M&V Limos to the Reviews board last weekend, so we'll see if it gets accepted. I'll definitely be honest in my Big Bridal Review! :) Fortunately, we really did luck out with most of our vendors, but it's always nice to have a balanced perspective on the 'behind the scenes' of a wedding.

This is so true. Yelp is perfect for things like this. And it's pretty easy to tell who has crazy expectations and who had a bad experience. I Yelp everything, lol.

I think the vendors pay to be on here, right? In which case, they probably buy the opportunity to 'clean up' their reviews. Or at least that's what I thought the case.

I didn't write a formal review in the Bride's Review section for my 1st wedding but I did post about some really gross things that happened at my venue and the post get removed. It was a LIW vendor at the time.

THIS! I think about the tone of the review and what the person was asking for.

Congratulations on the wedding. I posted a review once on a vendor and it was nothing bad. I just said they were pushy. Since that day the vendor name and initials are blocked if I post or fm their name. Their name comes up as stars. I definitely agree the site is biased towards the reviews. We should be able to express our experience with the vendors... Whether it's good or bad.

I want to write a semi-negative review for one of our vendors, but I'm worried that it will get taken off. Plus, I heard of someone getting sued for writing a bad review. Which kind of baffles me because then what's the point of checking reviews if they are all glowing and you can't put up any negative ones.

Wow, that's really ridiculous and seems really extreme!

I totally agree, and I've heard about that lawsuit, too. I'm going to be as objective as possible in my reviews and try to only report facts, rather than my opinions or interpretations, and I'm hoping that will get through. So, for example, I called a limo company twice and emailed them once and didn't get any reply- that's fact! People can interpret that as they will! And I worked with a vendor whose final product was wonderful, but the contract was not explicit about exactly what fees I would occur and under what circumstances. (But seriously! I was thrilled with my entire wedding and wouldn't have changed anything... so it's not like I have all this bad stuff that I'm just aching to get out there! )
