I need to try to negotiate the price at the hall I'm considering. Do you think since we've already been there to talk to the BM that I can call and try to negotiate on the phone? It's really hard for FI and I to get together to drive down there because of our work and school schedule. What do you think?

Yeah you are best doing it in person because it becomes a 'if you do __ for me, I'll sign the contract right now'

I negotiated over the phone. It all depends on your BM. I basically told him that this & that was holding me back but that if he could make me happy, I had a credit card handy that he could take over the phone for the deposit.
It worked for me.

I think you will do better if you are face to face with the person.
