OK, some of you may ahve seen me post - I'md eciding between a few places for a bunch of reasons. One of the 2 is too expensive, so I called today and asked if they could do a certain price, but it would mean a totally different time of year. My mom is saying if they agree I would be dumb not to grab but even the price I'm negotiating is still high and I may be happier at the other place. So....if you negotiate successfully are you obligated to go with a place and should you?
TIA

Re: Negotiating
You can negotiate until the cows come home but until you sign a contract you are free to go wherever you want.
Actually, in Suffolk you can sign and then cancel with 6 months to go and still get most of your money back.
Go to the place you love if you can. If you pick the place where you got the 'deal' you might always wonder about the other place. JMO.

Re: Negotiating
I went to a wedding there and it was amazing! The food was excellent and the service impeccable. The only thing was that the cocktail hour was a bit cramped on the back deck!

Captian Bill's was one of the places I looked at. It sounds like a small seafood place but it's actually gorgeous. The room is windows all the way around, it's right on the water and it has great places to take photos (inside and out). I would have booked it but the min. was too high for the time I wanted.

Re: Negotiating
I'm having my receptoin at the Bayview House at Captain Bills. If you are having a large number of guests there are alternatives for the cocktail hour. Sometimes they let you use one of the privates rooms in the restaurant.

The restaurant is open but it is in a separate building. You don't see the customers, don't share the same bathroom, etc. You have the Bayview House all to yourself. It's a beautiful place. As for prices, I'm not sure about day and if I remember correctly I think it works out to around $130 including tax & gratuity. I could be off though... They are really flexible and very accommodating, a few packages available. Did you look at their website?

Re: Negotiating
My old job used to have our X-mas parties at Cap Bills every year. I remember the food being really good.
The only avail space for CH is outside on that deck, I asked.

I've asked also and if you have enough people and the date is available, sometimes they let you use a room inside the restaurant. My friend is using it and depending on my guest list, I may use it as well. I don't think they like to offer it up but I suppose if you pester them enough....
