Negotiating

so tell me...who have you negotiated with so far and what skills would you like to share on how to do it? how have you talked down the prices of your favorite vendors so far?

One thing I've done is never book on the spot. Even if you really really want to, always say you have another appt. the following day. Then I will usually call/email the week after and say how the other vendor gave me a price x amount less and if they could meet that price I would love to book with them. I also usually add that I would really love them as my [what ever vendor they are] and if they could come down to my price I would be so happy and relieved.... something like that lol

So far it's worked! HTH

Re: Negotiating

before i start any vendor search, I get a clear vision of what I want. Then i read reviews, ask for quotes etc, so I find the best deal
Aside from RH i haven't negotiated price bc I hadn't had a need to. I have asked for substitutions and that has always worked in my favor. Hall gave me $ off per head, in addition to a ridiculous amounts of throw ins
It never hurts to ask though! Worst case scenario-they say 'no'. chances are they'd rathere give you more of a service for the same price then go down though

great ideas girls- i do the same thing with quotes and reviews...i haven't booked anything on the spot yet either, and i tell them all up front im shopping around and taking my time because i am a 2013 bride and if they don't hear from me right away, it may not be because i don't want their service...

what do you girls think you got the best deal on so far?

Yea we did with the RH and the limo...with the RH we got stuff added on for free and plus we made the min higher to make the per person lower and for the limo b/c we are having a day wedding ( helps alot) we asked if they could do better with the price and they did and we r getting a great limo with half the price ....great feeling

my planner is a pro at this, she know exactly what to ask and how. I didn't have to talk her down because her package was perfect! She even said to me that if I didn't want to book with her she would sit down and walk me through how to get what I want as a free consultation! What I know so far is to give them your price and if they can't fit your budget to walk, a lot of times if they need your business they will do what they have to do!

I think I've gotten a deal...

We got my reception hall to drop the minimum number of people from 125 to 100. They were willing to do it because we booked a Friday night wedding rather than a weekend.

Also, we're negotiating with them for adding on an extra for the seat covers. I planned on doing the extra no matter what- but they don't need to know that.

Im still trying to get the hang of the negotiation thing. I did with the RH and it went ok but I feel so wierd doing it. I guess I just need to get over it!
