Negotiating Prices with RH

Negotiating Prices with RH

Is it hard to negotiate prices with RH's. We are between 2 RH's which we are thinking of booking at. One we would like to hopefully get down by maybe 5 dollars a person and other place has a ridiculous deposit fee of $2000. My fh didn't even want to see the second place bc of the deposit. Are most places flexible?

I have found that they are willing to lower their price pp if you up your guaranteed number

Most places will come down, just stick to your guns!

They will usually come down a little or throw stuff in. I got a viennesse table thrown in on top of a discounted price pp.

But, $2000 deposit is normal... that's what we had to put down for ours.

Yes - it is very competitive and the economy stinks so see if they will work with you!

Some people are better than others at negotiating... lol. But most places will work with you. You can be up front and let them know your budget. That helps a lot., they won't try to upsell you.

Also...I hear that if you act interested until they say the price and then indifferent, they notice. You should let them know you are shopping around and leave soon after. If they ask for a deposit to save the date, ask for a 2 week cancellation period to be included in your contract. Its recommended that you do a tasting before your book, however, if you can't, you can also tell them to add the option to cancel after the tasting if you don't like the food. Be prepared to walk away without signing...they always call. They want your business.

Be firm. 'This is our budget, we can't go over, if you can't accommodate that, I'll take my business elsewhere, there are so many other halls on long island that offer the same package that is just as nice'

that usually gets them down.
unfortunately for me... it only brought the RH down $2.50/pp...

our hall told us for a saturday we had to guarantee them 135.

a couple of days later it was dropped to 125 like we wanted.

you can get what you want
just be firm

Almost all of them are flexible, especially in this economy. You definitely should be able to lower the prices per head. We found that almost all the places we met with were willing to offer stuff right away.

i would be firm-i actually only had to put down a 500 deposit

Re: Negotiating Prices with RH

we got our RH down $10/pp off the already discounted off-season and off-day price by taking out one of the four CH stations (there was so much food already, no one even noticed it was missing).

What if you didn't do a full out open bar, but just beer, wine, soda and maybe one or two signature drinks? That might get the price down too.

Try and pay cash for the deposit

$2000 deposit is not unheard of. I wouldn't rule a place out bc of that. If you pay the $2k now, it's $2k less you have to pay later. They're going to get it eventually anyway.

usually if you guarantee more people than they ask, or if you get a few add ons they work with you much easier with theprice

Sometimes if you say that you are debatting between them another hall, and say they are giving us a better deal if you can maybe match or throw something in. My hall did this!

Say that you are going between them and 1 or 2 other halls, and that you are getting more bang for your buck at the other places, but you're more interested in the landscape/scenery/room at that one. They'll be willing to negotiate.
