Negotiating Prices With Vendors

Negotiating Prices With Vendors

I am really bad at trying to knock down the prices a little for my vendors. When I met with a vendor, he gave us a quote using the price list from the folder I had of theirs from a showcase. And I asked 'Even though you share a building with so-and-so that we're also booked with?' Apparently one has nothing to do with the other.

So my question is, were any of you able to knock down the price a little? Or are you paying whatever the price list stated? Did any of your vendors just throw in freebies?

Thanks!

It is hard, but what I usually do is tell the vendor that i really like their business and what they are offering but you find them to be a little expensive and that you might go for another vendor who is offering it for cheaper, usually that scares them and allows them to work with you on the prices.

Some companies are so cocky that they wont work with you on the price because they know they can get someone else who is willing to pay that money...

Good Luck!

I negotiated with ALL of my vendors (photographer, rh, dj) and they all came down in the price. Even if it was just $200 it was still less...just ask most of them will help you out!

we negotiated a little. For our dj-its a family friend so we got a few hundred knocked off, for our photographer he cut his fee in half b/c our rh is 5 minutes from his studio. so those little things helped a lot!

We were able to negotiate a lot but we are also getting married in the winter and not on a Saturday, and that was probably why everyone was so flexible. Everyone but the DJ was able to come down in price (and he was actually cheap enough so didn't see the need to negotiate). RH came down in per person price, flowers worked with us to get the price down again and got rid of some extra fees they usually charge, and we got the photographer and videographer package down a lot too!

I am having trouble with this, too. I got a good rate for my venue, but having trouble negotiating prices with the DJ, photographer and etc. I feel like I at least want a little more included in my package if they won't go down in price. Anyone negotiate that way?

Honestly, all of the vendors I used lowered their prices. I think they expect it lol. Some I was refered and they took money off and other ones I was just like look we have a budget for this and this is what we want so what can we do?

I think we got like $30 per person taken off for our hall and we went allll out

I am bad at negotiating but have to say this site has made me much bolder. Even if you say something like 'what if I pay cash' or it's just a little more than what we wanted to spend.'...they tend to do a little something or throw in extras I've found.

We negotiated with the RH, the Florist, and the Band. You can always get something. Don't forget to ask about paying cash and avoiding some of the tax.
