Negotiating RH Contracts & Add-Ons..what should I watch for and request?

Ok, I am pretty sure I will be signing a contract for a RH this weekend, I have a few more RHs to visit in Nassau/Suffolk county before I make my decision but I already was able to get some RHs to come down a few dollars once I told them I was shopping around elsewhere and wanted to get a good deal..

So my question is - what is with these 'add on's'? Should I include them when I sign the contract or should I wait till the last minute?

For those of you who signed contracts, were there any items you wish you knew about before you signed? Should you tell them you plan to sign but wait a few days to see if they lower their quotes?

The only requirements I have is that top shelf liquor must be served throughout the entire reception (all 5-6 hrs), a cheese station, and that there be a Chocolate Fountain (this is my only Bridezilla type request, I don't care for candy buffet). Are these considered add-ons?

Any tips appreciated!

If you get them to throw in any 'add-ons' or upgrades, they ABSOLUTELY should be on the contract. We got the VH thrown in for free (usually and extra $10pp) and I made sure it was in writing.

ETA: anything not part of the original price is considered an upgrade.

I would think about all the things you want (even if you couldnt afford them all added together) and then go from there...

When we booked I said I would ideally love to add this, this, and this but this price isnt working for me...they made it work!!

at some halls though i think it may be better to wait...ex: Westbury Manor...they have showcases every few months and if you add, lets say the choc fountains on that night, they give you a % off i believe....

Depending on how many people you're guaranteeing, etc., you can probably get them to add on the cheese station and/or chocolate fountain for a lower price or free.

I don't know that I would wait to add things on though - I signed my contract without discussing the viennese hour or chair covers that I want and so now I doubt they're going to give me much of a deal on those since I've already signed!

If you are getting married at the hall, try to get them to throw in the ceremony fee (usually $500-1000).
Otherwise just ask if they can do anything with the price. They might not be able to change the price per person, but maybe they will add an upgrade.

Good luck!

We got the chair covers thrown in, and they can get pretty pricey.

I'm getting married in the off-season and I knew I wanted to book it (I had been there before and we were quoted a great price on the phone). They threw in extras for us and put in the contract. We got a chocolate fountain and an espresson bar thrown in.

When I signed, I made sure that the following items were written in the contract:

I have a pre cocktail hour: for guests arriving earlier than expected.
I have the VH included!!
I have all the seafood, cheese station, etc added for the cocktail hour.
I have the seat covers included
Top shelf included throughout the entire reception (cocktail and reception)

I also asked, that in case of an emergency if I had to postpone the wedding, I would not get a penalty!!!

You want to make sure you agree with everything that is on the contract, and if they have something missing have them include it in the contract and have them initial the change/correction.

I was lucky enough to have everything included (taxes and gratuity) in the final number on the contract.

Best of luck!!

definitely have add-ons added to the contract. We asked for crab claws to be included in the raw seafood bar, the prime rib upgrade for one of the carving stations. We ended up with the menu that includes pretty much everything so we didn't really have a whole lot more to negotiate in.

Def push for things like extra CH stations, them paying for your vendors, or extra half hour on CH or wedding....

Every possible add-on you may want (and ask them for a list of everything) should be quoted in contract now and you should be able to add it on at that price at a future date.

Chocolate fountain is definitely an add-on and will be a few hundred dollars but negotiate it--low ball them and they will probably agree.

No matter how low the quote you, negotiate. I can't tell you how much we even negoiated--it was fun and put money back in our pockets .

We added in table chairs and sashes in our contract because it was really important to us. just make sure it is WRITTEN in your contract before you sign!!!!! Read all the fine print! good luck!
