Negotiating Room Prices
Have any of you negotiated airfare or hotel room prices for your guests? For example, calling a hotel and booking a block of rooms. If so, do they tend to give you a discount? Do you have to guarantee that x number of rooms will be booked? I am wondering the same about airlines. How many are paying the hotel room cost for guests? I don't think I could swing this as we may have many people from out of town. I will do it for my bridal party. Thanks!

Negotiating Room Prices
Negotiating a room price for a block of hotel rooms is definitely feasible, but it depends on the hotel. I think larger chains (Best Western, Hilton, etc) may be more inclined to do this. I also think that you would have to guarantee a certain number of rooms before they give the discount. The best thing to do is to call around to the hotels you want and ask. I have not called about the airlines, but it can`t hurt to ask there either. Good Luck!

American Airlines
You can get a group discount for your wedding. I don't have the info on me right now, but go to www.aa.com and search for wedding. If I remember right, 10% off airfare to your wedding (ie - New York) from anywhere in the US or Canada for the week or so before and the week after your wedding. Once 10 people make reservations under your group id (they send you a postcard with the info) you get an upgrade for you and hubby on a domestic flight. They also give you a discount for Avis when they send you the info on your flight discount info.

Negotiating Room Prices
I booked my room block at the Wyndam WindWatch. I had to garentee 10 rooms at $139.00/night. That was no problem since my FH's entire family is from out of town. United and American both have special wedding rates. You can go on their web sites and look for events/meeting planners. You do not pre-pay or guarentee $$ to get the deals. Your guest just get a lower fare. But sometimes using the travel sites give you a better price. Still, it is a nice thing to offer your guests.Welcome New Vendors
