Negotiating with photographers

I met with Patken, VIP, and Imagine Studios this past weekend. I really liked them all, but my fiance and I are thinking about going with Patken. Were any of you able to bring down the price for your photo package?

we did-- since we paid cash we didnt pay tax-- we also had pics added to our album and had the type of album upgraded and the size (from 8X10-10X10) plus we needed more thank you than what was in the package and they thru those in too-- def haggle with them-- Good LUck Laura

I am a Lands End bride too - I love it there...I also booked VIP and he is quite reasonable and other brides from this board have only good things to say about him...I have never met with Patken. good luck

Negotiating with photographers

You should decide what it is you really NEED first, then what you really want. Take out stuff you don't care about. For example, I am not giving out tons of those little thank you photos so I took them out of my package. I wanted more 5x7's instead. You might also want to check out Mark Kauffman. I am using him and he is great about this kind of stuff. His work is amazing!!

I agree with Michele...

We worked with Lynn & Tony from Mark Kauffman Studios and we so thrilled with our pictures! We haven't even discussed a package yet. We wanted to see our proofs before locking ourselves into a package we didn't want. We didn't send those wallet sized thank you photos and we're probably going to order more 11x14's than we ever anticipated prior to the wedding. I know several people who saved money upfront by haggling & negotiating for a special package and then weren't happy with what they got and had to spend more afterwards anyway. I'm not sure about other studios, but our 4x6 proofs are wonderful and we get to keep them. Mark also has an option of printing 5x7 proofs as well. Anyway, good luck and happy planning!

My fiance and I decided on Steve with Patken. Although VIP and Imagine Studios were great, Steve's style was amazing! We're really excited!

Question for 02Bride

Is Steve located in Lindenhurst? How are their prices? I've heard great things about Steve at Patken and I just wanted to know if they were expensive.
