Re: neighborhoods in nassau?
Hi, nassau county is really expensive. You might want to start out in a condo which is a little cheaper. Taxes are sooooo high. If you can wait a little longer housing is going down. I would look at the LIRR maps to see what towns are near the RR. The babylon branch has...Rockville Centre, Baldwin, Freeport, Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa and Mass. Park in Nassau but there are many other branches. Good luck

Real estate in Long Beach is VERY expensive, especially on the East end and especially if you want to purchase a house... I lived there and didn't really think the commute was that great either, personally.
Island Park, East Rockaway, Lynbrook, Valley Stream, Mineola, Carle Place, West Hempstead are all more affordable, though no real estate is really cheap in Nassau County... There are train stations in all those towns, too.

I'm in a co-op in Great neck (pretty affordable for GN... 2 BR under 3k, i BR under 225k) and we are only a 28 minute train ride to NYC (walking distance to the station).
You shoudl check out Great Neck Terrace on MLSLI or Laffey.net (they sell most of the units in our complex).
Also, great school district & pet friendly w/a pool :)

Long Beach is awesome for people that work in NYC the train station is close by. It's a really nice area...and supposedly one of the best areas to raise a family.
It is pricey though but worth it.

Re: neighborhoods in nassau?
I live in Farmingdale (Nassau County) and the train station is right up the block from me. I live in a small condo community and my FH travels to Brookyn everyday and his train is at 6:09 AM and he literally leaves our home at 6:03 and is on the platform at like 6:05.
If you would like any more information, send me FM.
