Nervous about the church

Nervous about the church

We are meeting with the priest on Satuday. I am nervous because we already booked our date and I'm now being told that I need to lie to the priest and pretend I am going to him first. What is your experience!? I hate the thought of lying to the priest...I'm a good catholic girl and all. Lol

My priest knew we had our venue booked already and didn't care. I don't think you need to lie.

we heard the same thing and lied as well. We just said we wanted may 25 because it is the best date for all of our family/friends. We didn't want to say we booked the reception because the church is supposed to be your first place lol

There is no reason to lie. I'm Catholic and I told our priest straight up what date we wanted and that FH and I lived together. He didn't care at all.

Our priest didn't ask outright if we had our venue booked (which we did before we met him) but as we were finishing up he told us we must be happy that now we can go look at reception halls and find the perfect one for us.
I wouldn't lie to the priest but I wouldn't bring it up either.

We booked our venue before the church and when I told the priest our date he didnt even ask why that date or if we had out venue already he just said ok we have that date free and went on from there.

We booked our venue before the church and it wasn't an issue. Just tell them the date you had in mind and leave it at that. Don't say out right that the venue is booked. Just say we have a date in mind & can you accommodate us for that day?

We were nervous too because we had a date 'on hold' at our venue. So when we went to meet with the priest and he asked when we wanted to get married I said September or October because I was trying to be vague. And he said okay, what date? And when we said the 10th? He said okay. It's free. It was very stress free. I think it depends on the priest.

I think most priests don't even ask, so it's not even an issue. Our priest never asked us if we live together either, but if he did, we were going to be honest. I know of one who supposedly tells you that you have to live apart until the wedding, but I'm pretty sure he's the only one who would try and pull that!

Our priest didn't ask why we had a specific date, but we definately lied when they asked if we lived together....

Thanks girls! This makes me feel better...we will be vague and pray he doesn't ask. If he does so be it and we will tell the truth!

He never asked me whether or not I booked the venue already. After we talked and he asked us questions he asked what date and time I wanted. I wouldn't stress at all!

I was a little nervous about this too. Apparently, you're suppose to book church before venue (as so I've heard from many). But we didn't and booked our venue 1st, then met with the priest 2 weeks later. We told our priest that we had a date in mind; he didn't ask any questions and just told us the date was free. I think you’ll be fine, seems like most priests don’t question the date.

This is exactly what FH and I did!
