hello everyone, i am relly afraid that i won't be able to do all this planning in time. My wedding is in august of this year, and i still haven't ordered my dress or booked a florist. can anyone give me some advice. please!

Welcome and Good Luck
You need to start looking for a gown ASAP since some companies take longer than others as far as for flowers a lot of vendors book more than one wedding at a time.

Congrats and Welcome. You still have time to get a dress so don't worry. You should start looking right now though. I recommend Lillettes in Baldwin. They were great with me. Good luck on your planning

Start looking for your gown now. Gowns can take 6 -8 months to come in, so get moving. Don't worry though, if you start now, you'll be fine.
As for the florist, you're not behind. Some people book well in advance while others book very close to the wedding date.
My wedding is a month before yours and I haven't met with florists yet either. I plan to go this month, but I don't feel nervous about having waited. Florists can handle more than 1 wedding in a day.

First of all, relax! You're fine! Brides have done this in less time. I too recommend that you get dress shopping asap. Most places need 6-8 months unless you go to Davids and you'll get is sooner. Whatever other help you need don't hesitate to ask.

plenty of people do it in less time. just go get the dress. Mine is only taking 6 mos to come in. also, all my friends booked their florist late in the game and were fine. they booked 4-7 months in advance. don't worry at ALL!

I am in the same boat as you! All I have so far is the reception hall and Monday I am going for the first time to look for dresses, hopefully I'll find one. Once I get a dress, then I'll start working on all the other details. Good Luck!

You'll be fine if you first take a deep breath. I had a friend who had a surprise wedding and she got her dress the day before (no joke a sample and the seamstress their altered it that day for her -for extra $$ of course) and as far as a florist you can wait on that. But unless your an impulse dress buyer I would start to look for a dress as soon as possible and remember that even if you started planning 3 yrs in advance everything will not be perfect but it will still be wonderful!

Congratulations on your engagement and welcome! You've done a great thing by finding this site, the advise I have received has been invaluable.
Don't stress, you still have time. Plan to meet with vendors over the weekends (or during the week if you can swing it). Right now's a great time to have weekend appointments because the majority of them are not booked (it's 'slow' season). Let us know if you need recommendations.

Okay I see you already have your hall. That's good. Next you should: 1. Get your dress (I can't reccommend stores in NY because I live OOT, but do you have an idea of what type of styles you like 2. Try to get your girl dresses done too 3. Photographer/Videographer 4. Makeup/Hair. I never knew they get booked up so quickly.
The other things like Florist and limos can wait still. If you need a Florist, check out Flowers By Emil. I just posted a great review about him. But you have a lot of time still to book a florist

I would say photography is your next priority.
A dress can be bought off the rack easily.

Congrats! I too am getting married in August 05 and I just ordered my dress today. They said it would be in by the middle of May. I gave them a date a few weeks before my wedding and I was not charged a rush fee - I would try to order your dress soon - but you are still ok. Check out the August 05 thread. There are a lot of helpful 8/05 girls who respond. You can get a feel of where you need to be. I would say first figure out your budget, find a place and pick your dress within the next few weeks. After that everything will fall into place. Good luck! Lisa

One day at a time. Like setting up your To-DO major list every day. YOu know vendors first, etc. etc. etc. and day after day you can just click them off. Let us know if you need any help/advice

You are getting married the day before me. Don't worry I haven't ordered my dress yet. I was told by the end of this month even by the well known dress shops.
The flowers you can certainly wait a little on.

Sometimes wedding gowns cant ake up to 8 months to come in. Mine took 7! But, if you start looking now you won't have a problem.
As for a florist, you still have plenty of time! I wouldn't stress, you'll get it all done!
