I really thought H on the Harbor was going to be the perfect place, but FH doesn't like it. I really wanted a loft-like feel but on Long Island (we can't afford a city wedding). Chandeliers and carpet are beautiful at other people's weddings, but we are both artsy/funky people and we wanted a place to reflect that. Does anybody have any suggestions?
FH likes Warehouse 5 but they don't do a sit-down meal.

Re: Never going to find a place!
I heard they are redoing the Sands at Atlantic Beach to have sort of a loungey feel - they are having some opening some time soon - I got something from someone on facebook but deleted it but I'm sure you could just google it - What about the Allegria Hotel down in Long Beach?? Its beautiful but I think $$$$.

Fox Hollow .. the Winter Garden Pavillion room!
It's not really 'artsy' but it's definitely doesnt have the chandeliers/wallpapery/floral carpet that you see everywhere!
Look at the somerley at Fox Hollow...its brand new wide open, wood floors, high ceilings with rafters...it might be right up your alley!

Check out Studio Square in Astoria. It's a beer garden, but they have a private room upstairs that is absolutely beautiful, and definitely not the typical catering hall look.

thank you ladies, you guys came up with good suggestions. I also just found a place called both (i think) Carlyle at the Palace and Deco 1600. I haven't been to it in a very long time but I did see Our Lady Peace there back when it was the Vanderbilt. Anybody heard of it? Ever been there?

I hear TWO Steak and Sushi Den in New Hyde Park will rent out the space for a wedding. The food is amazing and the ambiance is very modern. Check it out.

check out carlyle on the green as well, though it was definitely pretty pricey, but a gorgeous room. High ceilings, cherry wood floors, adorable cocktail room.

Did you check out The Foundry in LIC? it definitely has that loft feel, not sure of the pricing though.
The boat house at Prospect Park is really nice and a different location. We originally wanted to do it there but the catering was out of our price range.
Maybe the Old Field Club or Fox Hollow Somerly, they're not all carpet and chandeliers, but a little more on the Rustic side.

Okay the suggestions have been great! The following places are beautiful, but too expensive: Studio Square, the Foundry, the Allegria, and Stage 6. I am going to check out the Fox Hollow and that place I found...we will see. It sucks having expensive taste and no money!

i didn't think I would like the Old Field Club because it isn't 'modern', but there is something clean about it I actually love. Maybe this might be a more realistic direction.

Check out TWO in NHP...I am looking for the same type of venue and it is at the top of my list.
May I ask why your FH did not like H on the Harbor. I was thinking about looking into this venue.
