I really am starting to think my fh and I are not going to make it to the wedding. We do nothing but fight-fight-fight. We keep growing so distant. I love him to death- but I can't do the fighting anymore. We fight more than we don't-- it's terrible. Yet neither of us will call it quits.

Why don't you try going to counseling.. You are both probably under a lot of stress, so before you call it quits, talk out your issues with a professional.

I agree! I would try talking to someone together. This will help work out those issues that are causing you to fight!

Re: -never making it down the alter.
Are you guys doing the bulk of your wedding planning right now? And the bulk of the budgeting/figuring out expenditures? Is the fighting about the wedding or other things? Let me tell you...FH and I NEVER fought until we got engaged. It was like a full out battle in our house over EVERYTHING while we were booking the RH, photographer and all the bigger vendors. It's so stressful trying to figure out how/who is paying for this whole shindig. I wanted what I've always dreamed of and he wanted what's affordable (read: two totally different things). Now that everything is pretty much booked, we haven't been fighting at all, back to normal. But there were definitely days where I sat back and fully assessed the relationship to figure out if I was doing the right thing by marrying him b/c of all the arguing. We weren't used to that at all. Now everything is fine and we're great. So maybe it's all just the stress. It's a huge, huge financial and emotional obligation. It'll get better!

Let things with his mother pass.. u know that his state of mind is probably not the best right now and maybe that is where the fighting may be coming from. Take things one day at a time hun.

Re: -never making it down the alter.
its none of my business but is the fighting because of wedding planning? or has the fighting been happening ever since before you got engaged....
its definitely something to think about before you get married....i think a marriage takes more than just love...you need love plus the compromise...it definitely takes work to keep a marriage...I dont think anyone has a perfect relationship....so keep that in mind....you have to think if the both of you are compatible and right for each other...do you both bring out the best in each other...or the worst?
good luck honey with whatever you decide...you'll get it through it....

Do you guys communicate? I mean just talkk without the shouting. Do you guys like eachother? You can love someone but not like them. A counselling session may do wonders for your relationship. At least try to make things work cause it sounds like you both care about each other.

Re: -never making it down the alter.
i am so sorry to hear about the fighting.SOmetimes couples go through some rough patches. Speaking for myself, i know me and my fi hit a rough patch about 2 months ago. We would fight all the time. I must say that i had to take into consideration that his father is very ill and his mother was recovering from breast cancer. I kept having to remind myself that prior to his parents illness we were perfect! Sometimes, environment really plays a part in the relationship. Our chaotic lifestyle ( i live between three houses, my fi lives between two) really puts a strain on the relationship. Try to think back when the times were good, does the good outweigh the bad? How good are your good times? Thinking about these questions during the rough patch may help put a perspective on the relationship.
I wish you all the luck! Before calling it off, you guys owe it to yoursleves to look into counseling and make any effort to save the relationship.
fm me anytime!!

You need to sit down and have a talk with him ~ try to work things out...if haveing issues that need a third party maybe go to couples counseling...me and FH were fighting in the beginning of the planning but things have evened out and we are back to normal! I wish you and FH good luck!

There's ups and downs FI and I are having a stressful time right now because we just moved in together and wow, what a stress inducer. We now have a community calendar to make sure we have time for each other... and also, are working to be more sensitive about how we communicate to each other. That's a start at least

Thank you all so much. Just knowing I'm not the only one going through this makes it a lot easier. I mean, the love is deff there. He's a great man also. We just both have more than we can handle right now. We're trying to be happy about a wedding, but in the back of our minds we know we're going to end up burrying his mother before we even make it there. It's veyr depressing and we're not the only ones fighting. my fsil and her husband are also.
Thank god for liweddings, it keeps me sane :)
