Maybe you should just talk to your mom and explain how you really feel. You are both grown woman and I'm sure she will undertsand, especially if you are very appreciative!

Re: What to do... (sorry, long)

Personally I think that the mother/daughter relationship is one of the hardest. I think that because we are so much alike, or they just like to live through us.

Since our engagement, my mom has zoned out. I still don't know what she's wearing and the list goes on. On the other hand , his mom and dad have been great. I mean really supportive in everyway. This has been hard for me.

I suggest that although you continue to do what feels right to you (over his house and the like), still be sure to make time for your mother (just you and her). She maybe just a little fearful of losing your company-in general.

Re: nevermind

I agree. That has been my experience-separation
anxiety...Once you sit down with her it will get better.
Also, I have made a point of at those negative (comment) moments turning into deep conversations:

What works for both of us?

What will it look like when we are not in the same house?

How did you deal with leaving your parents home?

Could we still meet for lunch/brunch?

Will you help me decorate?

I still struggle with knowing what is next, but I try to maintain that I love her even if she is not responding the way I think she should...
Trust me, it will get better. This is the time in our lives that we have all been waiting for!!
