Nevis
Hi Girls! Just got back from a vacation to Nevis and I want to give some info for those planning a honeymoon, vacation, etc.
First and foremost, keep in mind Nevis is very remote. It will most certainly require two flights, one of which on a very small jet from San Juan, PR to the teeny, tiny airport in Newcastle, Nevis. The seclusion is double-sized. It's great for relaxtion and romance. Most hotels have quiet beaches, pool areas, spas, etc. for your enjoyment. However, after a few days the lack of activiites can be a little annoying ... it depends on your personality-type.
Most hotels, with the exception of the Four Seasons, will NOT be beachfront. it will require a fifteen minute ride the ocean. The water is beautiful, very clean and the beaches are in wonderful condition.
Spa treatments, massages, manicures, pedicures, etc. are excellent at the Four Seasons. They have an extensive yet pricey menu for services. Guests from other hotels can use their spa services as well.
My experience with the food was excellent. The Four Seasons and the Monpelier Plantation have fantastic menus with a varity of exquite fare. Of course, the food is expensive. Budget at least $75 per couple plus alcohol for dinner of you will be shocked when the check comes! Other locations will have less consistent good food.
Nevis also has a significant British influence. Be prepared for 'proper English', afternoon tea, driving on the left side of the road and strict evening dress codes. Long pants and closed toe shoes for guys, floy skirts and dresses for girls. Beachwear, short skirts and flip flops are for poolside sandwiches only!
Natives were friendly and attentive. I felt very safe and comfortable, even after dark. American money is excepted everywhere although most will not have change. For sap treatments, be prepared with an exact payment including tip. I learned the hard way when I tried to have part of my change go for the tip and the have the remainder go come back to me. The services was great but I ended up overtipping by 20 or 30%!
Any specific questions, feel free to FM me! Thanks for reading!
