New baby born... UPDATE

Original post by KerriJohnS

FBIL (and best man) just had his third baby and first boy!!

They scheduled a c section for today.

There were some complications... both the mother and child are on a respirator .... she lost a lot of blood.

I'm always the optimist .... so I think they will be just fine!!

Congratulations to the new family addition.

UPDATE:
Mother lost 11 units of blood (body hold 5 units). The hospital saved her life because they were prepared for this problem. They saw something on the ultrasound (I wont go into too much detail but the placenta was attached to the uterous in a way it should not have been) and were prepared for any problems. She is doing OK and is sedated and on a respirator until tomorrow I think. She should be OK though.

The baby was taken out VERY fast (because he had to be due to complications with the placenta) and the cord was wrapped around his neck so he was blue and not breathing... that's why he is on a respirator as well. He is doing MUCH better now!! He's 8 pounds and will be just fine!! He is HUGE!! LONGEST ARMS EVER!!! haha!! I have 2 pics.. but IDK if I should post them because of the tubes.

I will probably take this post down later.. so please don't quote.

Im happy to hear they are ok. Did she have placenta previa? I know someone who experience these same issues.

Is that when the placenta is attached to the uterous and there is ripping and tearing involved? If so then yes. I didn't get an exact name for it though.

Yes, it is. My cousin had that. Its when the placenta is below the uterus or something like that. The doctors were also prepared for that when she delivered. This was 14 years ago and they both are completely healthy. Your sis in law and the baby will be fine
