I am now on ortho tri-cyclen, and love it- much less moodiness around aunt flos visit and everything EXCEPT the weight gain. My 'girls' are almost a cup size bigger (which FH loves ) but my whole bod feels puffy And the WW weight loss I was seeing has totally stalled- and then reversed into a weight gain. Is there anything I can do short of changing pills (which I do not want to do again)??

I don't know what to tell u, except to talk to your gyn.... I am on Ortho tri cyclen also and I love how it cleared up my face, regular light periods etc....but the same thing for me! Gained a little weight, WW is totally stalled. The only thing working for me is Curves!

Your body will adjust in a few months, from what I heard. I don't think the weight gain will be permanent, it's just that your body's natural chemistry is a bit altered now that your introducing these hormones. I'm sure you'll be fine. However, you should still discuss it with your GYN.

You guys are scaring me- i just started taking them yesterday! My brother (an ob/gyn) swore I would not gain! Anybody NOT gain from the pill?

I lost weight from one of the pills (out of 3!) I was on.. Thank god I got off of those pills.. I hated them.
unfortunately, there is really nothing you can do about the weight gain, unless you change your pill.

adrienne.... you might be retaining water.... start drinking more to counteract it! you'll go to the bathroom more & flush out toxins from your system @ the same time!

I didn't gain any weight on ortho tri cyclen at all. In fact, the ob/gyn told me that it doesn't promote weight gain at all... Have you researched it online?Maybe it is your body just adjusting to the change.

I din't gain when I took Othro, i fact I lost some pounds. It might be that your body needs time to adjust.

you have to remember that bcpills don't have the same reaction on everyone.. you sometimes have to change your pills up to like 4 or 5 times in order to find the one that best suits you!!

I have a call into my gyno to find out what he thinks, will let you ladies know. I am hoping that this is an adjustment period w. the new BCP. I am hoping the effects lessen, as my girls are insane- its like I am going through puberty all over again. FH likes the 'new' me, but I am annoyed as none of my bras fit anymore I wonder if I am retaining water though- but I drink at least 2 1.5lt bottles a day- anymore and I may float away!

switch to Yasmin! It is the best drug and I lost weight on it! Very VERY low doses of estrogen!

Well, my gyno has still not called me back but I weighed in at WW and lost 1.2 pounds so I am happy. I am just watching what I eat more closely and chugging the water. I will say that my skin looks great, and I am a lot less moody, so there are some good side effects to the OTC as well.
