New Bride

Hey Ladies

I just joined LIWeddings this evening. I moved to LI from California, so obviosuly i never heard of liweddings.com lol

Anyway, i was speaking with a vendor who mentioned checking out the website....

Is there like a 'getting started' thread or something to help me thru all this?

I'm getting married to the man of my dreams... possibly in July 2009. Is it too early to start planning? When did you lovely ladies start planning? I feel like theres sooo much to do...and the hardest part is that im gunna be traveling back and forth from CA to LI until my move and new job are all finalized....

So in short, any advice you guys have would be appreciated.....

Here's what I've done so far -

I am almost positive we're gonna book the Stewart Thomas Manor for the reception. My fiance's mom is workin' on the church part....

As far as music, I def. want a DJ - no band...sorry
Maybe some live elements for the ceremony. I've been to many LI weddings and already have an idea of where i may be going for my music.

I'm also looking into photographers and videographers at the moment.

Everything else will just happen down the road...

There is a ton of useful info on here!! The 'search' feature at the top is very helpful also! Just type in whatever you are looking for and I am SURE something related to it will pop up!

Welcome!!! It must be really hard to plan while trying to get set in a different state. I would recomend bridal expos, some have a lot of vendors, you can get ideas on what you want to look for, who and what you dont want. Plus the dj's usually do a mock wedding so you can see how they are. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

It is true - welcome to your new addiction! You will get many great idea from lots of different brides. Good Luck with all your plans. It never to early to start planning. You can get 2007 prices for your 2009 wedding. Each year the vendors prices go up a little. I know you mentioned photographer & videographer. I used Twelfth Night (photo) & Timeless Treasures (video), both great vendors. Check out everyones photo albums for ideas. Ask lots of questions and FM (Forum Mail) to ask girls specific information. Enjoy the planning and don't sweat the small things.
