I put this in the brides helping brides by accident! BUT...my question is, did anyone ever feel guilty about getting a new car, my dad suprised me with my car 5 yrs ago and it is time to get a new one, I am so attached though, I get upset just thinking of someone else driving away in it! Am I crazy?

Re: new car
I actually just picked up my new truck yesterday but I've never really been one to get emotionally attached to a car. Although, yesterday as I walked past my old car (which my FH will now be driving) I was thinking about how it is the car that I brought my son home from the hospital in and it made me a little sad

Re: new car
We just traded in our car a couple of months ago, I had to hide my tears at the dealer when I turned over my keys. It was so hard and I still look longingly at any black toyota solara. I never get attached to things like that so this was weird.

Re: new car
This happened with my last car. When I gave up my business job in the city to teach at a private school, it also came with a 15k paycut and I decided to sell my sort of new Acura to have some money in the bank & drive my parent's old Caddy (don't get me started on that).
I sold to a family friend's daughter, but it was so hard & especially knowing I was going to an older, shoddy car. So I know how you feel.
But just think how great the new car will be and it will have all the features you want and the color and everything else.
I'm sure you will get over your old car....
Ps--I finally got myself a new car (after driving old Caddy for a year)....talk about appreciating a new car now (we didn't have AC for the last 2 summers and I had broke down 2ce).

Re: new car
When I got rid of my hand-me-down, I was actually happy. The car had stalled on me too many times that I was afraid to be in it. I was glad to say goodbye. My current car, which I bought new, will probably stay with me forever. I work in the city and drive only at night and on weekends. It is almost three years old and only has 15K miles on it. I have a feeling it will be one of those cars that gets passed on to my kid as a first car
