New & clueless

Hi, I posted a few times tonight, but I wanted to offically introduce myself.

I am recently engaged & want to get married next October, but I am feeling way behind schedule. I have learned a lot in the last 2 weeks though.

We have an appointment with the Milleridge Carriage House Saturday. The date I listed is fake. I may try for that though.

I'm also looking for a church.
I just want to do everything all right away!

I am from LI, but I live in Westchester now, and all of a sudden LI is feeling foreign, and I feel like a tourist.

Anyone else only in the early stages?

edited for a bad typo.

Congratulations on your engagement!
Welcome to the boards. I'm sure you'll find them to be a HUGE help!!! veryone here is so helpful!
You still have some time if you want to get married in October. I think you just have to be organized and decisive. When we first got engaged, I wanted to do everything all at once, but it got pretty overwhelming. I just took it one thing at a time. You can do it!

Good luck with your planning, let us know how we can help!

Re: New & clueless

Thanks, y'all.

I'm so excited about my reception hall appointment.
I already have so many questions.

You have all been so helpful already, I've learned fof reception palces I've never heard of & found some info on the milleridge.
Its also interesting to see other people's time frames.

I think I'm pretty organized- I already made a wedding binder.
My goal is to have the location mefore Christmas, and start looking for a dress in January.

Congratulations! You're not behind at all, just get started!

Where are you from in Westchester? I used to live in Danbury so I know Westchester fairly well (well at least the bigger towns and along the Saw Mill!)

Good luck, this board is great!

Welcome and congrants on your .

Don't stress...you have plenty of time if you are planning for October. FH and I got engaged in September and are getting married in April...7 months total. It's definately do-able.

Also...I live in NJ so I've been driving back and forth to LI quite a bit lately. Have fun...enjoy!

Don't feel behind, you're fine. I changed my date from 2005 just 3 weeks ago. We still have plenty of time to get everything done. Welcome and Congrats!!

Re: New & clueless

Thanks- its good to know other people are having under 1 year engagements. There a lot of longer engagements here, but I am trying to convince myself that peopel who have longer engagments have more time for posting, so its not an unbiased sample.

I'm already addicted I think. I was readign way to much at work yesterday & stayed up so late posting last night.

I live in Mt. Vernon right now, about an hour from Bethpage, where my parents live. so, its not too far, but everything has to be done on weekends, and we'll be doign a lot of driving.

Although some people really do long distance planning.

For my dress I am thinking of taking a day off & going in manhattan.

Re: New & clueless

Hi Heather,

WELCOME!

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I'm aiming for October myself, and I JUST got started. I too am a 'newbie' and I've found everyone here so very helpful.

I've been engaged almost a year (1 year 12/24) and I was feeling like that was too long. Everyone asks you what your date is, have you started making plans etc. and we had no answers. It's tough, you have to save money etc.

Anyway, I hope to find my place by Christmas as well. At least on our 1 year engagement anniversary, we can announce 'save the date' to everyone.

Welcome and good luck! Feel free to ask away, I found everyone to be very helpful and I've learned a lot.

Take care,
Ravena

Congrats welcome to LIWeddings. (forget the typos, we all have them!)

Next October is a bit tight, but very do-able. First & foremost, you need to pick a date. Then it is very easy from there!

Welcome & Good Luck...remember, we are here to help!
