New dog meets Old dog

As some of you know i am contemplating getting another dog. I currently have a min pin, who does really like other dogs. But i am hoping since the new dog will be a puppy, that maybe my Martin will take the new dog under his wing and love him too.

I am hoping that the dog i think i am looking to get is smaller than my current one and that could be a benefit, cause i wouldn't want Martin to feel inferior.

So i guess my question is...how did this go for those who were or are in the same situation. How did you dogs handle a new one?

ANd any helpful advise is needed

I have a pom and got him a puppy pom because I thought that he needed company. When I brought the puppy home (a girl named Schatzie) he immediately went to mount her OMG! She tried so hard to play with him but he never really responded to her. She likes him but he could care less about her.

I thought they would be best of friends but he was just jealous! Keep in mind that there is the jealousy thing. Good luck!

well... honestly, at fisrt Luk didnt like Tink.. i dont know if he was jealous, or just that she was so small she looked weird . (since Min pin were ratters, and she was like a hamster size!)
but he came around pretty quickly.
thats probably a good idea to get a dog his size or less if you dont want him feeling bad
i guess my only advise is this: i dont know if you have a preference or not, but they say try to get the opposite sex. this way HOPEfully they wont fight over the alpha position.
