effective Monday 3/21/03, the Nassau County District Attorney will hold all DWI clients to the charge if their reading is .16 or higher. This applies to first time offenders.

What do you mean by holding to the charge??
Basically it won't do ****, but get them more money. Nassau courts are real ****ty handling DWI/DUI there offerings of rehab are ****ty and that is why they get so many repeats

Well if they can't plead them down - then maybe if it gets 3 more people off the road that is hopefully 3 less that can hurt others.
I really wish they were strict with this - I know 6 people who were killed by drunk drivers - the worst was a friend of mine lost her sister to a drunk driver. Her sister was on her way to the prom with some friends in a van and they were hit by a drunk driver and killed
